I'm actually pleased with those results. I would think Pac would have a big lead. At least more than 60% of people have a brain.
I post on this group on Facebook where a few dudes swear Floyd would whip Robinson, Leonard, Hearns, Duran, Benitez, you name it. There’s more ignorant people out there than even I thought.
Pretty meaningless. Even if you discount bots and so on you have to remember it's just a poll. Nobody has to explain their vote, nor do they have to know anything about anything in order to vote in the first place. If people were sitting around at a bbq talking about boxing and the conversation happened most people would simply say they don't know enough about Robinson. This is the internet though. All you have to do is click a button. If the poll was "John Smith vs Bill Jones" thousands of people would vote one way or the other. Look at polls on virtually any subject. Even if there is an "i don't know/not sure" option that is always an extreme minority in percentage of the votes. For whatever reason a lot of people believe that it's mandatory to make a choice or "take a side".
I would never bother with any Facebook sports group. Casuals overrun knowledgeable fans 9 to 1 in any FB sports group - it's not unique to boxing. You have guys in Facebook groups who think Allen Iverson is greater than Larry Bird, and think Lamar Jackson is a top 10 all time QB. You generally gotta dig deeper on the web and find a forum SPECIFICALLY focused on a particular sport to find fans who know what they're talking about. Facebook is a cesspool.
I’ve also seen people insist that Jordan played against weak players and that Lebron is better because of that. It’s just absolutely TRASH..
LeTravel has the most deluded fans of just about any athlete. Nothing new. The fact is about, about 75% of Bron's fans weren't alive in 80s/90s to even see Mike in his prime. These are lil cunts born in 2003.
YouTube has some of the worst discussion ever, especially when it comes to basketball & boxing. It’s either grumpy old people talking about how much better it was in the old days or young idiots with no sense of history. “Floyd is definitely the GOAT…He was a clean fighter who wanted to clean the sport” “Floyd always ran and got a gift against Maidana” It’s a pet peeve of mine when people claim to love some old era of sports/music/entertainment, but don’t even know anything about that era. It’ll be a game with Reggie Miller and the comments will be “this is before there was all this flopping in the NBA”. People will complain about LeBron and today’s stars getting star treatment from the refs and then claim that Michael Jordan didn’t get star treatment from the refs. The boxing subreddit is filled with a lot of ignorance too. I think I stopped browsing there when most of the people said Canelo would dominate a prime Monzon. I have less patience for ignorance about boxing, which is why I only post here and the classic section at ESB.
