Foreman obviously the favorite to win, but how would the fight look like? More specifically, would Toney survive the distance? Some things to consider - Foreman was very carefully matched during his comeback and got outboxed relatively easily by Morrison (and Moorer, for long time). In my opinion the George that fought Schultz was no more the same. - Toney as a heavyweight didn't get hit cleanly much and was never seriously hurt, plus he still was a terrific boxer. Toney's undoing in this fight would be that his shots would have zero effect on George and Foreman's reach and heavy jab would keep him honest (the way Rahman and Peter could do) but the question is, would Toney go through 12 and could he win rounds?
The Toney that stopped Holyfield would win rounds, go the distance, and maybe even eek out a decision.
Even Holyfield said Foreman's shots were something else. I think his power turns Toney's lights out eventually, IMO. Toney is in no better ostensible shape than Foreman by the time he reaches HW, & his counter-punching game is going to suffer against someone with Foreman's height, reach, jab & power.
Mosley yesterday, now Toney. Ramone, you keep picking guys who have never been stopped to get stopped.
Toney wins this NO DOUBT! Toney had a remarkably good chin at heavyweight and was diffult to hit. Foreman would be MUCH BIGGER but it wouldn't matter. Toney by decision.
Where better in a mythical match-up though, right? ;) Actually, which were the other fights which apparently stood out?
how about for actually fighting and competing well against the prime version of the fighter Toney beat up? that same chinny heavyweight that Foreman stopped would have beaten Toney's fat ass too
If we're talking early 90's Foreman. Then Foreman wins. Either late tko or UD. Toney faced a poor man's Foreman minus a jab (which would be crucial) in Samuel Peter and didn't impress one bit. Foreman too big too tough too in your face. Toney is overrated at heavyweight.
Fighting well? Holyfield blew Foreman out. I watched that fight. George was the crowd favourite and everything he did well was getting blown up and overexaggerated. He got schooled.
he remained a threat throughout the fight and hit Holyfield hard besides, that was the actual Evander Holyfield, not the used up nobody Toney defeated
And lost about 8 or 9 rounds cleanly, if not more, yeah that's called being outclassed, by a CW at that.
