Roy will fight Lacy. Roy surely isn't stupid enough to fight Adamek.

Looks like Roy will be winning titles from 160, 168, 175, 200, and heavyweight. I am willing to bet this will never happen again atleast not in our life-time once Roy smashes Adamek. I'll Holla 5000

don't be so sure about that. Adamek is young and talented, and he hits hard.

Adamek would knock Roy out in less than 6 rounds.

If Roy gets any big wins at this point in his career, it only hurts his legacy and all time standing because people will justifiably be able to say "this guy had a lousy chin and couldnt handle pressure and thats why he lost to Glen johnson and Antonio Tarver"

personally, I feel Roy is a shot fighter, and that he was never the same after he came back down from Heavyweight... when he fought Tarver the FIRST time, I thought there was something wrong with him

having big wins now will just make the safety net dissappear and will open up the discussion of "How can you say Jones would beat (insert name of good-to-great 175 pounder from whatever era) he got his ass handed to him by GLEN JOHNSON!!"

I think Roy was a great fighter, clearly one of the 30 or so best P4P fighters of all time, but if I were a believer in him being the GOAT (he so isnt and no argument has ever been presented that I ve seen that justifies it) I would want him to get KOd into retirement so people couldnt say to me "your boy got KOd by Antonio fucking Tarver, how great could he be?"

I understand your argument. But how come that same argument does not apply to some of the other all-time greats. I'll Holla 5000

Because what other all time greats were knocked into oblivion by a B-level fighter and a C-level fighter when they were still "great"?

If Roy looks sharp as hell and easily defeats Adamek then no one can dismiss his defeats to Tarver, Johnson and Calzaghe as the result of being washed up, you dig what I mean?

1st of all, there's NOT 29 BETTER Fighters than Roy Jones, Historically or Otherwise...The G.O.A.T. Claims May have Been EXTREME, but let's NOT Veer tooooooooooooo Faaaaaaaaaaaar N the Other Direction Either...

Roy was 35 Years Old when Tarver "Exposed" him...NEITHER Tarver, NOR Glencoffe Beat a PRIME Roy Jones...For CERTAIN, Johnson Brought NATHAN to Roy that he HADN'T Previously Dealt w/In his Career...Roy ATE UP "Pressure" Fighters for the BULK of his Career...

Tarver Landed a PERFECT Shot on Roy, but it's NOT as if Roy had NEVER Gotten Hit Cleanly N his Career...So ANYBODY that would Say Roy "Couldn't Handle Pressure" or "Had a Lousy Chin" would B Revealing just How LITTLE of Roy's Career they've Actually Followed...Merqui Sosa Could Bang a Bit, yet NATHAN Happened when he Hit Roy Flush...Ditto for Toney @ Supermiddle...Even the + 33 lbs. John Ruiz Landed FLUSH Here & There, yet NATHAN Happened...

If Roy WERE to Notch a MEANINGFUL Win N the Twilight, there's NO WAY that's a NEGATIVE...Was it a Negative when Duran Beat Iran Barkley AFTER LOSING to the AVERAGE Robbie Sims or the LESS Than Average Kirkland Laing???....

He was 35 when Tarver KO'ed him & 39 when Calzaghe Beat him...Plenty of Old School Fighters Notched MEANINGFUL Wins PAST their Primes...

not after being KOd by someone as utterly ordinary as Glen Johnson

come on, REED, what great fighter got killed by a guy that ordinary and then notched some big wins... Im not saying losing, I am saying getting butchered and beat to hell by a guy that completely average and then winning big fights SEVERAL YEARS later?

When I say there are 29 "greater" fighters than Roy, Im not saying could necesarrily beat him, but including all criteria that make a fighter great-- in the ring performance, OPPOSITION, etc.

And it was just a number, regardless... how is it insulting that Roy Jones is one of the 30 greatest boxers of all time?

how about 20? is that a more appealing number?

Im not going to say 10 because I dont think he is, but I could certainly live with 20 for sure

But How "Ordinary" did Glencoffe Johnson Look Against a 25 Year Old Chad Dawson, who just MIGHT B THE FUTURE of the Lightheavy Division???...Shit, Dawson's Probably a LEGIT Lb for Lb'der Right Now...

For 1 Thing, REED Thinks Roy Jumped Back into the Ring Tooooooooo Soooooooooon After the Tarver KO...He Fought Glencoffe around 4 Months Later...Then U have to Consider that Glencoffe was HUNGRY & just Beginning the PEAK of his Career...Not PRIME, but PEAK...

    15 is a More Appealing #...Can U & REED Settle on that???...

    REED:lol:

F.Y.I., Barrera Lost Pretty BADLY to Junior Jones, yet Bounced Back VERY Nicely...& Barrera WASN'T 35 Years Old when he Got Waxed Either...

You should have went with 12, then negotiated to 15. Now the lowest he'll go is 18.

you think the Double Ls of the world wont JUMP on that? I do

Personally, I think Roy is shot to hell right now and that none of the guys he's lost to would have even been that competetive with him in his heyday

What Double L jumps on or not isn't really of interest to me.

But winning a title in the diminished state he's in now wouldn't hurt his legacy.

but it does call into question exactly how diminsihed he was when he lost to Tarver and Johnson

168 Jones vintage versus Calzaghe on the best night of his life ends in a Roy jones victory 100 times out of 100

If the basis for a rare fighter like Roy jones losing brutally to Glen johnson and Antonio Tarver is that the man is shot, and then several YEARS later he scores a big win over a bigger, more powerful guy... it calls into question wether he was shot at all

which then makes those defeats far more significant because the "he was shot" argument ceases to hold water anymore

Again we arent talking about an old Sugar Ray Robinson coming off of a three year tap-dancing retirement and losing a 10 round decision to Tiger Jones, we are talking about a guy who just beat a heavyweight title holder getting nearly murdered twice... knocked senseless

Now, like I said, I think Jones will get killed at this point because he has next to nothing left... but if he wins, you cant say he was "shot" when he was KTFO two times

once a fighter is shot, thats it. You dont come back from it

What does any of this have to do with a fight with Adamek?

It's been obvious for years that Roy's physical abilities have been in (steep) decline..."shot" or not.

Say Roy Jones goes out there and dazzles Adamek, knocks him cold in 8 rounds, just for argument's sake... the losses to Tarver and Johnson have to be weighed more heavily then they currently are by most reasonable observers, wouldnt you agree?

    or do losses not count?

Coming back from brutal loses and beating a very good champion doesn't hurt a resume.

I don't get why Roy has to all of the sudden not be shot if he beats Adamek. I mean, look at the guy fight for fuck sake! He is not even close to the same guy anymore. If a shot Roy beats Adamek, then that's all there is to it, it would say more about how good Adamek WASN'T if he were to lose to Roy right now.

so you just answered your own question

if it then becomes that Adamek sucks, then what good is the win?

Whats really annoying is that he couldn't or wouldn't be bothered facing the like of Jirov when he was actually close to his best but wants to fight the tough guys now that he's fairly shot...I'd take Adamek to beat him now without question...
