The Affliction payouts are inaccurate. Fedor got over a million when all is said and done. Also, nice to see 2 former UFC fighters in Tim and Arlovski making serious bank away from their slave contracts in the UFC.

I think UFC fighters under contract are taking notice....free agency is the thing too be..people can hate on Fedor all they want with the way he's done things as of late..but that man's been averaging 1.5 million dollars a fight for a long time now.I'm no Tito Ortiz fan but he's right about one thing, fighters are going to have too speak up and put there foot down if they want to make some real money and thats the truth. It may not be popular with TFK and the others but oh well

Speaking of putting there foot down and speaking out, look were thats got Anderson Silva,he went from making 70,000 to 200,000:bears:
Now he's been real quiet about the Roy Jones thing lol

Anyone know the PPV buys for the affliction card? I hope they're good for affliction's sake. They paid out over 3M to the fighters alone. Not to mention site fees and all expenses related to putting on the actual show.

If they didn't do good numbers, they are going out of business.

I have to imagine the buisness was really bad with the free UFC on. Shit, if both were PPV the UFC would have still crushed the Affliction card.

The pay-per-view numbers for Affliction: Banned will be among some of the most anticipated and watched of the year. A strong number will be evidence that there is a market for MMA outside of the UFC. A weak number will provide support to the notion that there is no market for MMA, only for the UFC. The obvious question then is: what constitutes a good or a bad number?

Last week, Affliction Entertainment COO Michael Cohen told MMAPayout.com that he guaranteed the event would do above 50,000 buys, while Affliction VP Tom Atencio has publicly stated that it would take 250,000 buys for the show to break even. Based on the fact that no MMA event outside of the UFC has broken 100,000 buys, conventional wisdom around the industry is that anything above that mark would be a success.

MMAPayout.com has learned that bar sales for Banned are believed to have been around 700. For comparison, it is believed that the UFC typically has between 750-1,000 in bar sales. However, it should be noted that it isn’t clear whether or not the Affliction event was offered at a discount to the UFC’s events.

That number may give credence to what appeared to be a growing sense of optimism concerning the event’s chances on pay-per-view within the industry over the last week. Officials at InDemand were also reportedly excited about the events prospects.

The Affliction PPV blew that piece of sh*t UFC Spike special outta the water. Affliction needs to start selling Fedor shirts right now to market his popularity after that Sylvia squash.

Sales of Affliction shirts should spike after this ppv especially with the quality of fights we saw, so many cool KOs.

There's actually been worse than that, LOK. Some dude got 2K AND got cut from the company after getting his brains splattered. Can't remember who though.

Yeah, but the success of this show really won't be known on until the next show (and it's ppv buys)...and as long as Fedor-Couture is hanging out there as a huge payday, there will be a reason for it to stick around.

The Affliction show was a success in a lot of ways, outside of the ppv numbers. It had to establish itself, and Fedor, in the American audience and it's hard to imagine them doing a much better job of it in one night than they did on Saturday. (One of the only real setbasks was Aleksander Emelianenko-Buentello not coming off.)

But in one night Affliction basically established themselves as having the best heavyweight champion and division of any promotion in the sport. That's a huge accomplishment. Fedor, Arlovski, Barnett (who were all winners in exciting fights)...possibly Couture...and that point is furthered by Nogueira being a champ in the UFC.

How well it does the next time out, if it is in November, will depend on the maturity of MMA fans on a large scale, because the product on Saturday was top notch.

Kevin Iole is reporting a "source close to the situation" told him Affliction purchased $500,000 of it's own tickets.

In the same article he also gives readers a perfect example of irony:

Today, Fightline.com has learned that the bonus was 1.3 million dollars, putting Emelianenko's final take at 1.6 million dollars. That's quite substantial. Eyebrows were raised when the California State Athletic Commission released the promotions payouts and it was revealed that Emelianenko ($300,000) received less than half of what his opponent Tim Sylvia ($800,000) received; this after Fedor demolished Sylvia in under a minute. Emelianenko's bonus plus his base salary coupled with securing advertising for M-1 Global and the rights to his fight footage in Europe possibly represents a very sweet deal for the popular Russian fighter and certainly one of the best deals for a single fight in MMA history.
