We never got to see it, but assuming they had fought when both were undefeated and in their primes, who woulda won?
We should have got to see it...... I'd go with Wilder....I just think Wilder was tougher than advertised and AJ wasn't really as monstrous or as calculating a hitter as was required to sufficiently mask his own shortcomings. AJ could be got at. You think how dead Wlad looked in the 5th round of their fight and AJ damn near not got KOd in the 6th but in the 5th itself. I think Wilder, without any losses, was so sure of himself he'd have gotten to Joshua before Joshua got to him. If a little fat man like Ruiz could just hustle on in there and get the job done, it's hard to see past Wilder having similar success.
Wilder Doesn't Necessarily Have to GET to Joshua 1st to Win; Like You Said, He was TOUGHER... We've Seen Wilder Weather Storms & Come from Behind vs Ortiz & Others...We Can Also Properly Gauge the Quality of PRIME Wilder's Punch Resistance Based on the Shit Kickings He Absorbed from Fury...Wilder was for Sure "Tougher than Advertised" & Undoubtedly Tougher than AJ... He Might Be Hurt/Dropped 1st, But REED Still Likes Wilder Over Joshua, Prime for Prime...& If AJ's Tagged 1st, it's a WRAP...The FACT Eddie Hearn Cock Blocked This Fight from Happening @ Its PEAK Pretty Much Tells Us What WOULD Have Happened... REED
This is my take as well. There is more than one way it could've gone down, but i'll take the guy who has shown more fight. AJ isn't coming back from a bomb.
If this the Joshua before Fat Andy khtfko him, i think in my mind he would be close to khtfkoing Wilder and then he would walk into a right hand and get splattered. The Joshua that decided to go full hippity-hop in the Fat Andy re-match may possibly Parker him
I actually think the complete opposite. The pre-Ruiz AJ I believe would stop Wilder. An aggressive, confident AJ would back up Wilder behind the jab, and Wilder is totally useless when he's backed up. The post-Ruiz 1, hippy hop AJ would get caught and KO'd. Overall, AJ had a better career. To echo Neil, Wilder beat no one. Old man Ortiz, and that's literally it. AJ hardly had the resume of Lennox, but his list of victims is a helluva lot deeper than Wilder's.
It's an excellent matchup on paper that gets fucked up by their respective losses. At their respective bests, it would have been a really big fight. Too bad they both fucked it up.
I will never ever get tired of watching Wilder get beaten mercilessly. Hell, I would welcome a Wilder ring death. By all means, let's still see Usyk vs Wilder.
Wilder vs a Kodiak grizzly sounds better than usyk. Wilder really is a scumbag of a person aside from how overrated and thin of a resume he got
He's a true shitbag. I'd pay anything to watch him get mauled to death by a Grizzly. Only he'd probably come back from the dead and tell us that the grizzly had plaster in its paws.
Id probably bet on wilder, he's quicker and more likely to pull the trigger on a good counter imo. Its a 50/50, but I tend to think Wilder lands first. It's hard to actually choose though coz Wilder never went within sniffing distance of an aggressive puncher, and he has his own fair share of mental issues.
Gotta go with Joshua. Wilder is a guy who loses almost every round in his fights until he lands a right hand. Even Eric Molina was winning rounds against him. Washington, Duahapas, Spilka, - I remember all of those guys winning some rounds. Joshua wasn't dropping rounds to those kinds of people. Ortiz damn near won every round in which he wasn't stunned. I'm not sure how Joshua would have done vs Ortiz but Ortiz looked a bit chinny vs Wilder anyway. Joshua probably gets him out of there quicker. Of course the official cards were cooked in Wilders favour in these fights, as is usually the case with Haymon fighters but with fair scoring he was dropping rounds to those cats. I don't think Joshua would lose one round against those guys, although maybe Ortiz gives him some problems
Yeah, I'm more siding with Butterbean. Wilder was always dropping rounds and getting stunned by no-hopers until he eventually landed the right. I think AJ had too much firepower for Wilder to get away with that. I think Beyonce gets laid out before he can land the big counter. But again, that's against the prime, aggressive AJ. The cautious, shell-shocked AJ would get caught. The key isn't to outbox Wilder. The key is to take it to him, because he's inept fighting off the backfooot, and he's physically weak as fuck. AJ would throw him around like a rag doll if he chose to be aggressive.
