Seeing as Guzman has vacated, the WBO have made Alex Arthur their champion:

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/boxing/7402980.stm

And in typical, deluded Frank Werren style, Arthur now believes he's substantialy more than the game, hard-working sort he really is:

"I'm delighted with the decision by the WBO to give me full world champion status but I felt that I won the title when I beat Gogoladze," said Arthur.

"I'm confident that I would have beaten Guzman had the fight been rescheduled but I believe that I am among the elite super-featherweights and want to prove myself as the best out there.

    :laughing::doh:

Expect a whole raft of mandatories, saps and has beens/never weres to be travelling to a Scottish ring sometime very soon...

I like Arthur, but this is total horseshite. Its a coup, of course, for Warren and Setanta, who can now offer "World Championship Boxing".....Guzman would have beaten him, not as wide as people think, but beaten him just the same. I'm only glad that Arthur is not a 135lb Champion, and I am delighted Rees got whipped by Kotelnik for the very same reason.

I too like Alex, but he is game, hardworking and not a lot else. If Arthur really thinks he's the best SFW in the world, he's either talking about the known world Pre-Columbus or he has already taken one too many shots to the head and should retire forthwith on medical grounds whilst he is still, errr, 'Champion'.

Guzman must be one of the most unreliable guys out there in terms of turning up for fights. He's in danger of becoming one of the biggest waste of talents too if he doesn't get his arse into gear.

As for Arthur...by saying he's going to be a long reigning champ, Warren is really saying, 'i have blind faith' or, and more likely, 'i'm gonna feed this guy bums for the next few years'........at the moment, the division might be a little too strong to get away with this, it is pretty deep.

    you're kidding with this, right?

When exactly was Warren going to re-schedule the fight? Guzman's been down this road before with Warren - the Scott Harrison fight getting postponed FOUR times before Guzman gave up and proceeded with his career. Yet Harrison STILL hasn't fought since then, and can't even fight today.

Warren panicking about Guzman's visa was a smokescreen to cover up Arthur suffering an injury in training camp (reported by Setanta, before being ordered by Sports Network to take down the report). The "visa issues" would've delayed Guzman's travel plans by a whopping nine HOURS. Because he had to reschedule his flight, Warren pulls the plug on the show. Then says "later in the month." Then June. Then July - and appeals the WBO's pending decision to grant Guzman an interim title fight.

But all of that is Guzman's fault, right?

You can blame Guzman for the Katsidis fight falling through.

Yup. Guzman got fucked on the Harrisson thing when Harrisson was drunk.in prison/in the Priory/in loco dementia or whatever...and now Warren has fucked Guzman on the visa issue.

That said, Guzman did get the belt when Harrisson went into the Clink, but the fact is that both fights fell through by no fault of Joans.

I'd say Werren manufactured the Visa issue.

The IBF-130 title has been held by scrubs, since Barrera or Marquez vacated it.

Especially since some Cunt from Outer Pakistan can get into the country, rob it blind, bomb it, and then dress up in a Burka and leave quietly. Guzman not getting in, having been in, and having Tyson already been allowed in, is a fucking joke.

Yep, now it's all become quite clear the whole thing was orhestrated and manufactured by Werren. That dirty, slimy, scumsucking cunt Werren.

Ortho - not at all, why would I be?

All your points are valid, it really does look like Werren manufactured it.

I mean seriously, why he have visa problems? Especially beign that he has been to England before, and didn't participate in a terrorist training camp in his stay here.

Rightly so.......its a fine piece of management though. Its what every manager should be doing for his fighter. Make him as much money with as little risk. And I am not being sarcastic about that- Warren has fucked boxing but has served Arthur well.

    I can't deny that either.

If I was a boxer, who was decent, and popular, but had more personality than ability - you can bet your fucking boots I'd want werren as a promoter.

It sucks for fans, but he is a master at overprotecting fighters and milking their careers for all they're worth.

Well is Warren not doing a good job then? He will get his fighter a huge pay day if like you said they have more personality than talent:stir:

Its cool for Arthurs fans though. All 3 of them can now enjoy World Title boxing.

Apparently, Arthur used to spar in Wildcard.:dunno:

perhaps this time it isn't..... but Guzman has a history.

Fights falling through, promotional/management changes, weight making issues, training team changes.....and the big fight continues to elude him.

some of these things may not be his fault, but something don't seem right with him.....

people bring up the Katsidis fight falling through, but what about when he appeared on the Tszyu-Mitchell undercard?....we all thought he was due to defend his WBO 122 belt....at the weigh-in Guzman's team claim that the fight is a non-title bout (despite it being publicised as a world title fight for weeks leading up to the bill)....the fight ends up being scrapped and Joe Morales is brought in as a late replacement...Guzman weighs 129.

You can pick me apart on that one if you wish, but all this stuff adds up to build an impression of someone very talented, yet unreliable.

I guess my point is, fights involving this guy have historically had a habit of falling through for a variety of reasons....none of which I think are due to opponents being scared of him.
