FightBeat is now #13 most visited site for boxing in the world according to Alexa. just one spot under boxingtalk - CONGRATULATIONS TEAM FIGHTBEAT!!! Our new traffic estimate is 185,800 - so we passed boxingconfidential and we are closing in on boxingtalk's world ranking estimate. In the next two weeks expect two major announcements regarding the site. Before year-end I believe we will be at least #10 in the world.
isnt boxingconfidential sorta new? how far behind do you have be in order to pass sites that werent well known until recently? fightbewho? I QUIT
To be honest Arben, there isn't a perfect way of comparing sites. With Alexa, anything ranking over 100K is probably fairly inaccurate. However, under 100K it has a much better track record. Also, every version of Windows comes with Alexa built in and what many people don't know is that Alexa can actually track you without the toolbar. So with that being said, Alexa is the standard method to check your traffic and compare against other sites. Using trafficestimate.com as my method to validate my findings in Alexa, which it does prove, I'd say our claims are relevant. Any company looking to compare sites to purchase advertising will use Alexa. Regards, Carlos Guzman FightBeat.com CEO/Founder "Press Play, Don't Pay" http://www.fightbeat.com
Well boxingconfidential is new, but Mike Marley is not. However he had a shit load of visitors because he was constantly breaking hot news. However, he seems to be less dedicated to the site now, so I think it's hurting them. However, he did have over 275K visitors at one point. Maybe 300k. It was crazy
so in translation, 90% of the hits could come from one machin operated by Windows. so basically, 90% of those hits came from your home computer? genius! joon lee fightbeat.com infrequent contributor 'if you want garbage, i can provide it!' http://fightbeat.com
People actually visit as guests but the FB forums were run without supervision and many people were hurt or insulted. however they still come to visit, but don't post. C
I have a very hard time believing this. First off, when were the boards unsupervised? Also, I know for a fact that managers, trainers and even fighters post on other message boards (Max, BoxingScene, Doghouse, Boxrec). With the exception of Max (and even there, it's barely an exception), the insults and pissing matches flow freely, yet you rarely hear of fighters/fight personalities tucking their tails and running for cover. In fact, on those boards, said personalities are not only logging on, but often right in the middle of the give-and-take.
& that SUCKS in REED's Opinion... When REED Writes something, he's Willing to Go Toe-to-Toe to Back Up what he's Produced...& REED is INTERESTED in Feedback on his Shit, Positive OR Negative... Alot of Writers R just Toooooooooo Fucking SENSITIVE... REED
What I mean is proper supervision. People were a little to easy on letting things go too far. When Joe Rein was with FightBeat we even spoke of eliminating the boards because it was an embarassment and hurting us. If a potential investor or sponsor read some of the threads, especially in smacktalk, they would run in horror. Smacktalk wasn't a hidden area before. Speaking of Max, isn't Dobie Kitty, and a couple of other former forum members living there now? What about that dude that posted his family pictures and we ran him out? Dude, the reality is we've lost a lot of good posters because of the total mayhem here and the incompetence of previous moderators who were part of the problem. Steve_Dave and the current team have done an excellent job attacking the problem and reviving the forums. Carlos
and a lot of poster are just fucking stupid. Zachary Levin won't post here Joon Lee didn't want any of his articles here Others left because the lack of respect. It's a problem C
REED DOESN'T Disagree w/your Point, but that Go's w/the Territory... When U Put Yourself "Out There" as a Writer, You SHOULDN'T Expect Positivity All of the Time...& Particularly on a BOXING Messageboard, e-Confrontations WILL Occur... Some Writers Act/Think they're ABOVE Posters, which REED Doesn't Agree w/it...We're ALL FANS 1st...So Why SHOULDN'T a Writer Engage N Healthy Debate w/a "Regular" Poster???... REED:dunno:
it's all a lot of excuses, if you ask me. BoxingScene doesn't suffer one bit from its message board, which is far worse and uncensored than FightBeat's/FightWorld's boards have ever been. For that matter, FoxSports' feedback forums are seemingly uncensored as well. You and others can keep saying it, but I'll never believe it. Not until I actually meet the sponsor or investor who even acknowledges a site's message board, never mind expresses concern over it.
Carlos is right. Joe Pastore left here for that, and so did the Latin guy that was a good writer left as well.
I agree Reed, but there is a difference between writers and many posters. Many posters tend to write things and fire back with ignorance and vulgarity instead of facts and constructive opinions. So why argue with ignorant people?
ok fair enough, Warren got pissy over his name being slandered. But that affected the message board, not the site as a whole. But that's also a boxing promoter being hands on with a boxing site in which he had a vested interest.
Right. Vested interested means investor. Why would I invest in a site that slanders my name? The forum link is bold on FightBeat and we don't hide anything. Can you get into max forums without registering? NO. Other sites take a few more precautions. And if Fox sports doesn't give a shit about their own forums why would they care about boxingscene? FightBeat was hurt by the forum, that's a fact. Cupey
i only came to fightbeat when it was fightworld because someone had told me that there were free videos of fights. i didnt post in the forums, and after like two weeks of having an account, i asked cupey if he can give me the password to download the fights. he said something like 'you've been here for two weeks, but you only have 1 post'. ahahahaha
What sponsors pulled/backed out due to the forums? And why not have it so that you can't view the boards without registering? What's more important, having fans posed as guests viewing a message board, or having money coming into the site? And my point about Fox and Boxingscene, is that neither site is affected in the least. In fact, since the topic is Alexa Numbers, BoxingScene is now not only #1, but creating considerable distance between #1 and #2. A month ago, it was whether or not BoxingScene could continue the momentum and surpass FightNews. Now, it's whether or not FightNews will ever again close the gap, never mind regain the top spot. All this, again I say, despite claiming a message board riddled with children - and lately, racists.
Joe Pastore left here in the same fashion he left every other message board - chased off after getting into pissing matches with posters who weren't shallow enough to praise his every word just because he was in Kermit's camp.
