This might not be as easy a fight for Arguello as some people might think. Arguello did have some difficulties with aggressive, powerpunching southpaws (ie: Andy Ganigan, Jose Luis Ramirez), albeit those fights were at 135.
Arguello won both of those fights though, but your point is valid. Same token...when has Pacquiao ever fought a giant like Arguello? Solis?
You mean like til the end of the 15th? Anyhow, I too think Pac might make it til the end, Arguello UD
arguello stops pac in a brutal fashion. arguello nearly knocked pryor's head off despite getting his ass kicked for 13 rounds before getting stopped.
:: :: It would be more like the first Morales fight except Arguello would be doing more damage and have a much larger lead on the score cards .. Manny might get stopped in this matchup.
Arguello would wreck Manny. To compare this matchup with Arguello's fights with Pryor is idiotic. Pryor was a tank at 140, ...and Arguello was a bit past his prime and at least a division or two above his best weight. At either weight......Alexis would wreck Pac.
I have to agree with those picking "The Explosive Thin Man", I think Pacquaio would have given Arguello problems early but Alexis would have patience and caught him later in the bout.
Right hand is Manny cryptonite. Was there ever a better right hand at those weights than Arguello's? Brutal fight for both, gimme Alexis.
I tend to agree, though I do like Alexis to have to get up off the floor early in this one because he had trouble with straight lefts the way Pac has trouble with rights, it usually took him some time to adjust great fight
I think Manny would be too fast for Arguello, as far as i know his only opponent who had comparable handspeed was Pryor (although Arguello was pretty much done by then), and Arguello, for all his greatness, was pretty slow, both in handspeed and footwork. I would give him a decent punchers chance though, Manny's defense wasn't really polished yet down at 126-130.
