I don't know who wins but I'm sure both would beat Mayweather, Castillo, Hatton, Corrales and Cotto without a sweat. Afterall...they are no longer active.
I like Arguello in a thriller. Taylor's hand speed was among the best in history and would provide problems for Alexis. He could move in and out throwing combinations. On the other hand Arguello had great technique and timing to offset Meldrick's athletic advantages. That's what makes it such an intriguing contest. Every attribute of great boxers on display, yet with different approaches. Naturally the Pryor fight is going to be brought up (especially if it's Aaron involved) but i think in this case it's especially relevant. Taylor was speedier than Pryor, but didn't possess the chin, and more importantly the unpredictability of Pryor. Some of the vicious right hands Alexis landed on Pryor would have taken most guys out. The difference was it took a while for Arguello to land them flush. Pryor brought odd angles and intensity into his attack. I think Arguello could better time, and land flush punches against Taylor. Also i don't see him taking them as well. Arguello KO 11 in a classic
no..but arguello would have a good shot... YES..they both beat Hatton,Corrales and Cotto....in brutal fights..no easy ride....happy secretariat?
Floyd would beat them both. However Taylor & Arguello would beat everyone else on that list, if they fought at 140.
Arguello would have ZERO chance against Floyd. Far lesser fighters than Floyd outboxed Arguello. Floyd is a nightmare for Alexis. Taylor would have a much better chance at beating Floyd than Arguello would, due to Mel's speed.
agREED. Arguello would be at least one step behind Mayweather for most of the fight. But as for Taylor...I would make him a pick-em against Mayweather at 140.
Alex in a hell of a fight. His searing right hands would have stopped Taylor late after Meldrick had done a pretty good job on him and bolted to a wide points lead.
