The tall, rangy, hard hitting Nicaraguan vs. the slick, defensive genius known as Sweet Pea.

    Who wins???

Nobody beats Arguello easily but Whitaker does it easier than anybody else. Pea 11-4, 9-3 or so, but Arguello would get some licks in and Whitaker might well taste the canvas in progress

Arguello lands some sweet ones, but spends most of the fight unable to get set and get at Pete while eating a lot of counter left hands... Whitaker's southpaw jab and speed would drive him nuts... Whitaker 11-4, 9-3 but Arguello is not embarrassed

Gotta go with Sweet Pea. He has the perfect style to drive Arguello nuts, as cdogg pointed out, with the hand speed and southpaw jab.

He'd win a competitive but clear decision.

Yes. Two great fighters. Both of them unfortunately developed a love for the little white lines.

Depends on the judges. Do they like the hard meaningful blows from Arguello or the mischief and junk from Whitaker.

Nobody 'schools' the shit out Arguello. Arguello is a school. A proper old one too with a girls and boys entrance and 'Govan Parish' carved into the sandstone even though its nowhere near Govan.

Whitaker would probably win but over 15 rounds AA would be coming on strong. ≈10-5, 11-4 on the cards but itd be the hardest fight Pernel ever had.

Arguello might just have had the slowest feet I have ever seen on an absolutely world class fighter.

We have had discussions about scrubs with one world class attribute {like Tex Cobb's chin or Mickey Ward's left hook downstairs} but Arguello might be a world class fighter that has one awful, scrubbish characteristic, his feet.

He's so tall and long and technically sound with the right that Pea is going to taste it, but the Pea is not going to stop moving and is going to get off first, especially early.

    Pea 8-4
