WBA 140lb Title Fight: Fight stopped immediately, on a cut, with more than 4 rounds completed, and Khan winning on the cards. WBA International lightweight title vacant WBO Inter-Continental lightweight title Barrera, badly cut off a head-clash, is allowed to fight on for more than 2 more rounds until the 4 round distance is surpassed, and then the fight is stopped as soon as Khans people are sure he has won enough of rounds. <iframe title="YouTube video player" width="480" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/QKB4JEF9e0M" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Freddie Roach said he heard Paul say "No"....and then in the next breath he admitted to not knowing what question the "No" had been in response to. It could have been...."Do you want to quit, Paul" and the guy says "no". It could have been.. "I have some property in Rio Rancho"I], and the guy says "No". You get angry with me, think I am on the wind-up, I am not........I see all of this, one spunk-bubble of shammery after another, I see it all dove-tailing in together neatly in a great big camel-fuck of PPV'ness somewhere down the line. Barrera was a legend and he was robbed- he should have got the NC and been allowed to leave after the cut came up.
No, seriously, I agree with you. It's very shady. That doesn't change the fact it was clear as day that my man Paul was happy to get outta there. Body language tells the tale, and he was not really interested in fighting on.
Steve, yes, clear as fucking day that was a "robbery" so to speak, in that Paul was robbed of a chance to continue. Like I said in the main thread, I think it's the ONLY time I've ever seen an average looking cut stopped on first inspection. Insane. Meanwhile Barrera is allowed to fight with a MASSIVE gash on his head until 4 rounds are completed. I have to say though, I didn't feel like McCloskey wanted to quit at all. I think he was just thinking it would be a quick routine inspection and he'd be allowed to carry on.
He must have thought they were going back to his corner. Everyone knows the routine. Cornerman comes out, dabs the blood off so the doc can see it better, then they make a decision.
