He had his shades on, no doubt to hide his swollen face. He did a pretty good job I thought. Carried his belt in. Confirmed that he was retiring, but said that there would be a rematch if the public demanded it. Also, he was very complementary towards ODH, and said that G was a great promotional company. I became worried when I heard him say this. Meantime, I talked to some people at work (non-boxing fans who happened to watch the fight), and they all said, "boxing isn't like it used to be is it? It was.....boring.). I assured them that isn't the case. It's just that PBF is a boring fighter.
I did not see Leno but I have been watching other interviews with PBF and for the most part he seems a good guy, but in all the interview and press work I saw the ass hole that I thought him to be comes alive sooner or later, this lead me to believe that its all and front with Floyd and he was just acting out for the cameras. What can I say I think the pretty one is growing on me. I happy to hear he has some kind words for Oscar, as he deserves credit too, Lets the re-match on I want to see it, you cant argue, it caught the imagination, great for not only the two guys involved but boxing!
The guy SHOULD have kind words for DLH, seeing DLH gave him his biggest payday ever!:: DLH didn't even have to fight the guy.
I saw it this morning (I knew he'd be on so I DVR'd it). Floyd had some swelling around his eyes after the fight (which is typical). I thought it was interesting how Leno brought up his feud with his dad and talked about how Floyd was portrayed as the bad guy on 24/7. As much as I've ragged on Oscar for always sounding like he's reading from a script, Floyd has apparently picked up this same trait. Most of his answers weren't any different than those you heard on the promo tour and 24/7.
If they have a rematch the PPV should be no more then $19.95. It should be even less if they give it another lousy undercard. TFK
i give PBF a pass on the fact that his responses are "rehearsed," from the stand-point that if they weren't, it would be a disaster for him. he's not exactly swift when it comes to extemporaneous speech. it's in these circumstances that i think he resorts to being a punk and says shit that gets him in trouble.
it should be on an under-card. i personally enjoyed the fight tremendously, even though i found it frustrating given ODH's stupid performance. but in talking with some people who are not real boxing fans, who watched as casual observers, it's clear that the fight did NOT deliver as promised, and that by and large, the public was disappointed. this is a shame given the amount of publicity that had been stirred up and the degree of exposure the promotion acheived. it's almost worse that it succeeded promotionally only to fail in execution than if it had not succeeded at all. another million fans driven away....
I thought he handled himself well, and that is why I'm dragging this morning is that I stayed up late to check him out.
