I hear a lot of casual fans complaining about the Klits and talking about how they miss the days of Lennox Lewis, Holyfield and Tyson. The talk is that boxing is terrible now in the days of the Klits (the Heavyweight division reflects the state of the game to the casual fan) So do you think this is the majority opinion? Personally, I think the Klits are great for the sport. We have two brothers that are ruling the division with Iron Fists. A dominant heavyweight champion is always a good thing and now we have two of them. Like it or not, the sport will miss this duo once they retire and THEN the heavyweight division will degenerate into a cesspool of mediocrity as the Titles become subject to a round robin between hapless guys that can all beat each other on any given night. So my vote is that they are good for the sport.
Most casual fans dont even know who these fairy sisters are. Its a disgrace when no one knows who the heavyweight champ is, so I'd say NO!
What's the alternative? Povetkin as a dominant champion? At least we have two heavyweights around who are good.
The only bad thing is that the clear no.1 and no.2 HW's in the world can never fight. Understandable though that is, it hurts the sport IMHO. MTF
Hard to say. I don't think it's ever good for a division, or the sport, if the two top guys refuse to fight. But I guess you have to ask... what's the alternative? Still, I cheer for both to be knocked out, brutally, every time they fight.
And Haye & Povetkin's cowardice means the 3rd or 4th can't fight them either. Oooh, what a dog's dinner.
I don't know why the two fighters need to be grouped together. From my point of view, Vitali is an excellent fighter and always entertaining to watch. Wlad? He's horrible. In general, I think it's a mistake to talk about these two guys as if they're the same fighter. It's not fair to Vitali.
Yeah, but the only moderately impressive thing either has done is Vitali's competitive six rounds with Lennox Lewis.
Since we're both familiar with the resumes/BOXREC.COM, what exactly would be the point in that? You've either got the base line sense to know that Wlad's recent opposition has been better or you don't.
oh so now it's his "recent" opposition? and no. i don't think that boxrec cuts it. i'd like to know specifically which opponents "you" are referring to when you claim that Wlad's resume is not only better than Vitali's, but that it makes a mockery of it. Will you at least admit that you're exaggerating?
I think they are good for the sport because at least they are well respected in the world and don't embarrass the belts. Maybe America will produce better fighters instead of complaining these guys suck. Every time Wlad loses he has to send his big brother to get the job done. LOL. Still, both OK fighters compared to what we have today.
REED Actually Likes BOTH Klit Brothers, but the Answer is "NO"... Heavyweight is, was & will ALWAYS B Boxing's PREMIERE Division...Nonetheless, the Division is Top Heavy w/2 DOMINANT Guys that will NEVER EVER Fight Each Other...That's NOT Good for the Sport OR the Klit Brothers... As is, MOST Mainstream Americans CAN'T Even Differentiate 1 Klit from the Other...If they Fought Each Other, that'd Go a Loooooooooooong Way Towards RESTORING Heavyweight Credibility AND Garnering 1 of the Klt's the Type of Recognition he DESERVES... Yeah, Yeah, REED Gets the "Brother" Angle, but Boxing is an INDIVIDUAL Sport...The Klit Brothers have Brought a TEAM Concept to an Individual Sport & it's NOT Good in REED's Opinion... The Klit Brothers NEED To Fight Each Other... REED:dancingBaby:
Overall it might be a slight exaggeration, but Wlad's resume in the last 3 years puts Vitali to absolute shame. Vitali is trawling the depths these days. And overall his win list is uncontentiously better.
I think as fans we should be focusing our demands on chicken shit Haye & Povetkin making the relevant fights rather than demanding that two brothers fight each other.
Haye has a PUNCHERS Chance Against Wlad, but ZERO Chance Against Vitali...Povetkin has ZERO Chance Against Either Klit...REED would Rather Go STRAIGHT to Some Klit On Klit Action, Rather than Wasting Time Giving Haye & Povetkin Shots.... REED:cheer:
obviously not. but citing boxrec.com doesn't exactly make his point. let's look at wlad's last five opponents and vitali's: wlad's: Sam Peter Eddie Chambers Ruslan Chagaev Hasim Rahman Tony Thompson now vitali's: Albert Sosnowski Kevin Johnson Chris Arreola Juan Carlos Gomez Sam Peter Is one of these a mockery of the others? Or are they mostly comparable? The worst guy on Wlad's list is, Rahman. The worst guy on Vitali's is Sosnowski. Who knows what would happen if these two fought next month - Rahman being shot to hell and no longer relevant and all. Vitali's second worst is Kevin Johnson. Are you confident that Wlad's second worst, Thompson, would beat Johnson? Or that he's better? Third worst? Probably Gomez for Vitali, and Peter for Wlad. I'm not sure who wins that fight at this point. Fourth worst? Peter for Vitali - a younger and more vital Peter - against Chambers. Chambers won a close one. And finally, Arreola and Chagaev. Is this not a competitive fight? No matter who you think wins? The idea that Wlad's resume is a mockery of Vitali's is just bull-shit. Pure bull-shit and a claim that was obviously made without much thought.
U just Made Hut's Point FOR HIM, Doub...Wlad's 5 is SUPERIOR to Vitali's....REED Would Rate Chagaev AND Thompson Over ANY of Vitali's Recent 5.... REED:kidcool:
Seriously, there IS a difference. Chagaev was universally regarded #3 of the division. Chambers was about #5 Peter was still among #10, Thompson was about #6 or so. Rahman was garbage. For Vitali, Peter was #3. Gomez and Arreola were lower halfo of #10, Johnson and Sosnowski were not on lists. Add this to the fact that Vitali had a long pause while Wlad fought at top level all the time and yes, Wlad's recent and overall resume is clearly the better
Nah.. Brothers mustn't fight each other, period, let alone for money or for the fans. In this sport someone could get seriously injured.
