And that the winner of Margarito-Cintron II will vacate the IBF title and Joshua Clottey will likely fight for it. From an interview on Boxingtalk: GL: Will Cotto and Margarito still fight next if victorious on Saturday night? Bob Arum: "The fight is done, but it's more accurate to say the winner of Margarito-Cintron against Cotto next, provided Cotto beats Gomez. That's all signed contractually." GL: So if Cintron wins he'd fight Cotto next, but he'd have to vacate the IBF title first, correct? BA: "Yes either guy would have to vacate. We would not allow either guy to ask for another exception, nor would Marian grant it."
A sanctioning body that would turn down the bigger purse???:eeeek: I know the IBF has done this before with RJJ, so I guess they have some integrity.
Sounds good. I see Cotto as the last man standing here but if Cintron were to beat Margarito I think he's a bigger threat to Cotto than Margarito is just because if nothing else he hits like a mule and could stop Cotto.
I agree with Z. I would give Cintron a better chance against Cotto than the plodding pseudo pressure fighter Margarito, purely due to size and power.
Even though Cotto's chin "seems" improved at 147, he has never been hit by anyone who hits like Cintron. Zab had him wobbled a couple times, and I am sure Cintron being a naturally much bigger guy hits harder. He is far slower though. I actually like any combination of these guys fighting eachother.
