See, lyrically I'm Mario Andretti on the mo-mo Ludicrous, we speedy, or infectious with the slow-mo Heard me in the eighties, J Beez on the promo On my never ending quest to get the paper on the caper
Okay, If Knowledge is the Key Then Just Show Me the Lock Got the Scrawny Legs But I Move Just Like Lou Brock REED Can't Put Into Words How MUCH That Verse Meant to Him, Growing Up a St. Louis Cardinal Baseball Fan... No One Near REED's Age Knew or Cared WHO the Fuck Lou Brock Was By Then, Yet Tribe Called Quest Did.... REED
“With speed, I’m agile, plus I’m worth your while, 100 percent intelligent black child.” Man, that whole era meant so much. I was a kid when I first fell in love with it, but I vividly remember my older cousins playing Big Daddy Kane and EPMD back in 88 and I was hooked from there. Tribe as a whole was just something different when you heard it. There were a lot of groups during the whole native tongues days like Jungle Bros, De La Soul, Brand Nubian, Souls of Mischief, The Pharcyde, Freestyle Fellowship, Leaders of the New School, Etc. It’s crazy how good it was.
Black Thought from the Roots 1nce Said "Without the Native Tongues, I Don't Know if We Would've Had the COURAGE to Be a Band", and REED TOTALLY "Gets" What He Means... REED was a Freshman in College When Some NYC Homey's Introduced Him to Tribe... Even Though REED was Always a Lowkey ARTSY, NERDY Dude, Those Types Got Little to NO Play from the Females, So he Went the Hoop Route...By Jr. Year of High School, it was Apparent REED DIDN'T Have Next Level Talent and it Bummed Him Out a Bit... Native Tongues Made it COOL to Be a Smart, Artsy, Funny Brother, as Opposed to the Athletic, Tough Guy, Criminal Stereotype...Dug Their Music, Immediately Identified w/Them and it's Probably Safe to Say they SAVED REED's Life... A Tribe Song/CD will Be Playing @ REED's Funeral... REED
Had to give to Canelo as Fighter Of The Year and Best Fighter in the World. I like Vergil Ortiz a lot as well- I covered his Junior Olympics win here in 2013 and knew he would be a big star later as he had a pro style back then and he is a nice and respectful young man. Jermall Charlo is right behind Alvarez, but I don't see that happening due to Charlo's promoter/whatever he is. Too bad as Charlo needs to start making some serious money as he is capable of it physically - a terrific all around fighter.
