Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call, New Orleans I thought this was great fun. Really has nothing to do with the original, other then the part about a dirty cop who just doesn't give a fuck about anybody thinking whether he's dirty or not. There are some obvious correlations, but the first one with Keitel was a much darker movie. If you were looking for a re-make, this isn't it. You're not going to throw this part into Nic Cage's lap and expect him to play it straight. This was one of those roles he was born for, and it's hard to see anybody else playing it. Fun directing job by Werner Herzog also. I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with Cage myself. As I get older I'm learning to appreciate him a lot more. He can make almost any piece of shit movie watchable, even if it's for the wrong reasons. I used to mistake it for bad or "over" acting. I think he just knows when to take one for the team, ham it up and hopefully put a smile on someones face at least. 8/10
Nice. I think I'll give it a watch, I like Nic Cage too depending on the flick. For instance I just can't bring myself to watch any Ghost Rider flicks, just like as a Marvel comic loving kid, I refused to ever read one of the Ghost Rider comics.
Yeah, not my cup of tea either. I might catch them one night for a laugh or two, but nothing I'd go out of my way for.
It has Nick Cage in it so you know it's funny shit regardless of the genre. But it is more of a dark comedy than anything.
