For the hardcores a little mid week MMA:

    BELLATOR 24: AUGUST 12, 2010
venue: Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida

-Hector Lombard vs. Herbert Goodman (Non Title)

    Season 3 115-Pound Women's Quarterfinal Bouts:
-Megumi Fuji (20-0) vs. Angela Magana (8-4)
-Lynn Alvarez (5-1) vs. Jessica Aguilar (8-3)

    Season 3 Heavyweight Quarterfinal Bout:
-Neil Grove (8-2-1) vs. Eddie Sanchez (12-3)

    Non Tournament Bouts
    -Yves Edwards vs. Luis Palomino
    -Brian Eckstein vs. Tulio Quintanilla
    -Frank Carrillo vs. Moyses Gabin

If you want to see a bad ass BJJ chick, watch Megumi Fuji fight tonight. And if you want to see a devastating puncher getting fed a lamb, watch Lombard.

Pretty much absolute garbage this time out.

Luis Palonimo vs Yves Edwards is the only remotely intriguing match and Palonimo should be pretty heavily favoured there.

Lombard vs Goodman is garbage, llet him fight Schlemenko already and get him the hell out of that P.O.S org on onward to the UFC. Lombard is in the prime of his career right now and can't afford to waste too much time.

And LOL at female MMA. The only thing female MMArtiss need to do is be good on their backs.

I can´t believe shit like that makes it to regular TV and boxing can´t. The boxing promoter in America are all old or total lazy garbage like Oscar.

Call it what you want, but it was an entertaining card. Megumi Fujii is the best female BJJ practicioner in the world. And Lombardis limited but the dude can bang.

If Alvarez and Neil Grove represent the talent in Bellator's HW Tournament, then it will suck.

No one cares about Women's MMA.

That guy had no place being in the same cage as Lombard, and Lombard is hardly limited. He has all the tools needed to win, and finish a fight.

It isn't, those guys suck. Grabrowski and Fatass(Konrad) are the two good fighters in the tourney.

Sorry but I do. It's still crude for the most part. But there are those that are good at what they do. Fujii is just a solid submission artist and it is fun to watch. She is a beauty transitioning from sub attempt to sub attempt.

I have and I am huge fan of woman's volleyball (especially beach), softball, hockey, soccer, etc.

I also enjoy the sports my kids are involved in. While neither woman's sports or kid's sports are the highest level, it is still competition against peers and is fun to watch.

Sometimes your youth makes you seem plain stupid.

If I was trapped in a room, and a woman's sport(anything) was on, a marathon of Jon Fitch fights, and in between me watching the Jon Fitch fights, a squirrel starting humping a turtle outside, I would go to my window and watch that spectacle instead...

Of course it was entertaining. It mostly is when trained athletes get to shitkick bloody amateurs, but usually that stuff is reserved for youtube clips, but somehow MMA turned it into an artform.

I have no doubt you would prefer to watch animals humping. That doesn't shock me in the least.

I am getting this sneaking idea that girls probably kicked your ass alot in school. And given your age, that's like as recently as last year. Right?

I'm not sure what channel that was on, but I was watching Bellator which didn't include any amateurs or untrained fighters.

You know what I find wildly entertaining??? When guys learn to speak directly from their asses. Thanks....

Plenty of boxing shit makes it to TV. Stayed tuned for the next Michael Grant fight that we have all been waiting for.

They weren't literally amateurs but they were pretty damn closed to it. That guy had absolutely no business being in the same cage with Lombard.

Some might've been untrained or undertrained, but nothing like Bum Rogers' early "resume".

Women aside, here's what you had in the televised bouts.

The guy that fought Lombard was in his 25th professional MMA fight. He sucked, had no business in the ring with Lombard but was far from an amateur. He's been competiting in MMA for a long time.

Sanchez and Grove are both UFC vets with more than 4 years pro experience each.

Yves Edwards has fought in almost every imaginable MMA organization and has almost 50 pro fights. His opponent, Luis Palomino is a local guy down here that I've seen live a couple of times and he has almost 20 pro fights.

Yep amateurs. The nonsense spewed around here sometimes is unreal. The card was what it was. It was a Thursday night card on Fox Sport Network featuring not-ready-for-prime-time fighters, but guys with experience. Period.

Free fights on a Thursday not worth watching? What's the matter with you?

I'm a junkie. I watched Bellator last night. I'll watch the Strikeforce Challenger show tonight. And I'll watch Dawson-Pascal tomorrow night. None of them are 'can't miss' but I'll TIVO them and watch when I get a chance.

TLC is still at the stage in development where he thinks it's cool to offer a dissenting opinion even if he really doesn't have one.

I am right there with ya homey. I watch it all. DVR everything as well. Plus I go to every pro boxing night at the local Casino as well as every MMA event, amatuer and pro. I can't get enough. I must admit, I want to vomit when I see Cyborg fight. She just reminds me a drag queen. I can't get passed it. But I don't mind most women fighting. I wouldn't pay for it.

You are sort of right, but I highly doubt you know it. I suspect your statement was based on ignorance and only sort of correct due to luck.

Bellator is broadcast live on foxsports on thursday nights on a 2 hr show. Then a 1 hr compressed version is shown on Telemundo late on Friday nights. Then a version (I think 1 hr compressed) also shows up late at night on Saturday nights that is syndicated to a shit station in my area. Technically, this shit station is free so it is sort of regular tv, but it is less popular than the big 4 and probably less popular than many cable channels, including the foxsports.

Of course, boxing is regularly shown on foxsports and espn2 and all kinds of channels that are likely more popular than the syndicated bellator.

If I am incorrect, glad to be corrected.

I don't think cyborg deserves the cuts she gets.

I like Bellator a lot. It's a well done show with interesting fighters. I like the format and I think the champions are all capable fighters. It's sort of like ultimate fighter--there's a lot of crap, but the guys who win it are generally decent.
