Youve just looked on your shelf and listed everything you have on DVD.
Bolded are what I think are any good.

BTW, I listed the obvious 20 from the 1970s....I´ve probably watched 3x more than you from that decacde, too.

Jack Nicholson, Gene Hackman, Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, Steve McQueen, Dustin Hoffman, Robert Redford, Marlon Brando, Clint Eastwood, Richard Dreyfuss - all their best work

Meryl Streep, Faye Dunaway, Diane Keaton, Jane Fonda,Glenda Jackson, Sally Field, Sissy Spacek, Jill Clayburgh...ditto

Fucking monoliths of Hollywood of the last 45 years, man

    Annie Hall
Close Encounters Of The Third Kind
    Star Wars
    Jaws
    Rocky
    Mean Streets
    Last Tango In Paris
    Serpico
    Barry Lyndon
    Animal House
    Alien
    The Sting
    Halloween
    Manhattan
    Dirty Harry
    Coming Home
    Badlands
    The Last Detail
    Marathon Man
    Cabaret
    Don´t Look Now
    Klute
    The Candidate
    Heaven Can Wait

Ths are just 2nd-tier movies and already better than or as-good-as anything from your list
Your problem with the 1990s is that a lot of them were opening-up the hideous CGI \ action drama.
The 70s had too many genres and succeeded at all.

Most of your list is fucking big-budget popcorn shit aimed at an audience who´s IQ was seriously starting the decline as to what it is now: Millenial fuckwits with a short attention span.

The 70s had far more terms of talent and imagination cos the studios were at such a shit low-point, they let all the new and up-and-coming directors and actos have free-reign and total control over the movies they were making.

The 1990s just started off the modern-day disease of making movies for money.
    Shit.

Anyway, the 90s is clearly better, Godfather 1 and 2 notwithstanding. Every successive decade gets better when it comes to films, IMO.

I'm not a real big movie fan by any means, but the 70's blow the 90's away when it comes to movies, at least the ones I like. If I'm watching a movie, it's probably either a comedy or a horror, and those genres were much better in the 70's. Then add in movies like Rocky, Star Wars, etc.

the 70s have some all time greats. But if we are talking numbers, the 90s blow them away with solid movies.

70s and early 80s moves crack me up because this was before America became wrapped in political correctness. So much of that stuff wouldn't fly these days.

Take "The Bad News Bears." This was a KIDS movie at the time (1976.)

The coach is always drunk or drinking (including drinking and driving with kids in the car.) There are kids cussing, using racial and homophobic slurs throughout the movie. And the coupe de grace. Amanda and Kelly (I believe they were supposed to be 11 & 12 at the time) playing air hockey for sex. That was the bet. If she beat him (which she did) he had to join the Bears's baseball team. If he won he got to fuck her. Again, this was a kids' film.

Tanner Boyle's classic reaction to Buttermaker introducing Amanda as the team's new pitcher.

"Jews, spics, niggers and now a girl?"

In "Bad News Bears in Bearking Training" when they get in the hotel, Carmine lays in a bed and says "I guess I'll sleep here."

Tanner Boyle: "Hey, you fucking Wop! I called that bed already!"

Thats not true. Ive seen it and didnt rate it at all.
Caligula likes it cos it ties-in with his like of Britpop. Same for Hut (who knows as much about movies as he does music), Jimmy and Slice: all Britpop-90s-boys.

Trainspotting: a grim-as-fuck movie about Scottish herion addicts? Good luck with that one.

    Fuck off.
I´ve already busted you wide-open. You entire list is based on big-budget, big-action, big-star shite.

The 1990s: the Dawn Of CG-fuckin-I

I havent even got started on seminal 70s directors yet:
    Roman Polanski
    Francis Ford Coppola
    Stanley Kubrick
    George Lucas
    Steven Spielberg
    Mel Brooks
    Brian De Palma
    Martin Scorsese
    William Friedkin
    Woody Allen
    Sidney Lumet
    Werner Herzog
    Bernado Bertolucci
    Ridley Scott
    John Carpenter
    Robert Altman
    Alan J Pakula

Fuck me, Im almost getting a hard-on just talking about it....the 1970s is a fucking who-whos and whats-what of amazing movies, actors, actresses, directors.....

list their movies, not directors. Big budget means shit if the movie is good. No decade has produced the quantity of quality the 90s has. I can list 100 more movies that are solid 7s and up

All three great movies. Jerry McGuire is a solid 8. I actually liked klute. I wouldn't put it up there as a representative of the 70s when he is hardy listing much quantity. I would have added Don't look now instead
