If you could single out just one fighter in each class as the best to never win that particular title, who would it be? I think my list would be, HW- Harry Wills LHW- Charles MW- Burley WW- Gil Turner LW - Lew Tendler (should've put Packey McFarland on reflection) FW- Laguna BW- Joe Medel Fly- [removed] EDIT: removed Tancy Lee from fly as he had a title claim.
Fly: Depends on who you consider a titlist, I guess. Midget Wolgast? Newsboy Brown? Tancy Lee? All had a claim to the title at one point or another. Bantam: See above. Memphis Pal Moore? Feather: Rodolfo Casanova Light: Lew Tendler Welter: Holman Williams Middle: Charley Burley Lt. Heavy: Ezzard Charles Heavy: Harry Wills
HW: Harry Wills LHW: Ezzard Charles MW: Holman Williams WW: Charley Burley LW: Packey McFarland FW: Rodolfo Casanova BW: Jose Medel Fly: Midget Wolgast
Dang, I forgot about Packey... I probably should've rated him ahead of Tendler. For purposes of this thread, I would acknowledge Wolgast as a titleholder. I didn't realize Tancy Lee had a title claim when I ranked him.
