Best late rounds fighters (15 round era) here's a few Pedroza Monzon Victor Galindez Arguello Kid Gavilan Robinson some others? It would be way more difficult to make such a list of 12 round guys, but if someone wants to, go right ahead
I would agree for the most part with Marvin, but he did fail on one occassion to close the show properly, and that was against Vito for the title... but other than that, he's a great example (on the few occassions guys actually made it to the late rounds)
Hagler murdered antuofermo. The final 4 rounds were competitive, unlike the rest of the fight. Ive always thought that was the worst perceived fight in history. Hagler landed 2000 flush punches in the fight.
Oh I don't disagree Hagler won that fight and was absolutely robbed, IMO but, the fact that he failed to really keep that up in the championship rounds made the robbery possible in the first place
Oddly, it was how he BEGAN the fight against Ray Leonard that made it possible for him to lose it Although, in my opinion he won it... Leonard had a singular genius for preserving the illusion of winning, he'd flurry like mad, dance around, project confidence But when you watch the last 8 rounds of that fight, you pretty much see the lion's share of the meaningful punches being landed by Hagler
^^^^Definitely true about the meaningful punches. But overall I think he gave away too many rounds against Ray by not stepping it up earlier. He would have definitely won for sure had he did that.
Sanchez for sure. Marciano & Armstrong have yet to be mentioned, & even though he wasnt known for it, Pryor had excellent endurance. Not from the 15-round era I suppose, but Jeffries deserves his mention. Norton was one whose stanina really improved as he improved as a fighter.
