We often admire fighters for their ability to throw short effective punches. What about fighters who can deliver from half way across the ring? That ability certainly comes in handy. Guys who spring to mind are: Lewis Hearns McClellan Forrest These guys are known for long and sweeping right hands. Who else falls under this category?
Hunters "can" do well against long-punchers. But not as a rule. What do you think fuck face? You have any boxing-related thoughts ever? Or you prefer to stick to your usual boxing promoter politics bullshit ?
Anyway a great long range puncher is Chris Eubank. Notable also is manny Pacquiao, considering he has short arms. He knows how to find range with that straight left by utilizing those fast feet of his.
This is a lazy ill conceived thread. Put effort into your work in future. Where's your pride, man? Where's your dignity?
This is a guy who never receives enough mention from the Kronk stable, but Jimmy Paul was pretty dangerous when he had guys on the end of his jab/right hand.
It's impressive that Haugen was able to outbox Paul. Not the most exciting fight, but Haugen schooled him. Jimmy Paul beat the ever living shit outta Harry Arroyo to win the title. Arroyo lasted the distance, but was never the same again.
Funny that you suggest it is simply tall guys with long arms and then mention Pacquiao as your first example. After that, you ignore the obvious counter-example in Paul Williams. Who is the lazy one?
Did you see the Mosley fight? Had you ever seen him hurt like that? Up to that point and since? Forrest was a guy who could actually land the hay-maker.
Forgive, Sly. He only knows of a very limited amount of fighters in history, and no one pre-80s besides the well known heavyweights.
Agree on both counts Arroyo had a lot of heart, he ate some serious leather in that fight Haugen was a very smart fighter... not super talented and lacked power but he was crafty, accurate and understood distance Paul pretty much fell off a cliff after losing his title... weird
Except that's the only notable example and it wasn't a haymaker... I saw Pete Whitaker score at least three one punch KOs where the other guy was out completely cold... but I don't think I'd mention him in a thread about one-hitter quitters
Never heard of him. Weird, since I just looked at Wikipedia and they state he was born in montreal (the french version say Detroit though), and they never talk about him over here. Edit: probably an error, since it also state that he was born in 1982, and that makes no sense at all
Yes good call, woe betide if he got the range and leaned in with his right hand. He dumped Collins on his arse with that shot and Collins had a good chin.
Eubank should have been an inside fighter really but was too dumb to realise it. There's a clip of Eubank showing Lennox Lewis his 'coil' technique in his house after he'd retired, and Lewis is like "why are you doing it from way back there?", Eubank's like "I have to do it from back here, I've never tried it up close". Basically Lewis makes him do it up close and there's a noticeable difference in power. You just see this revelation come over Eubank's face and you just know the thought going through his head is "fuck".
That's correct and here is the clip Also, Lewis must have been a huge mother back in the day. Eubank is 5'11 and probably weighs 180+ in that clip. "Who gave you that black eye"??? "Klitschko" "Those Europeans man, Spoilers............yeah, Spoilers......." Fucking spoilers. I am glad I don't have to fight any spoilers anytime soon.
