I'd take Saddler, personally. They were savage at any range, had huge power, were extremely deceptive, and if you can land them on Willie Pep, you can land them on anyone. His left uppercut off the right hand was nasty, and he was fully capable of using them up close in the same way Duran did. Gomez washes it at 122, but I'd probably take Saddler at SFW as well. Well, maybe Saddler or Arguello.
Hamed and Lopez have wicked power in their uppercuts, but I feel like technically, they're nowhere near the others and shouldn't be included in their league. It's not like Arguello, Nelson and Saddler didn't also have bags of power in their own right. Who would you choose at 122 and 130?
Sleeper pick, and he definitely isn't on the level of the guys I named at 130, but Gervonta Davis' uppercut is wicked.
Saddler was great at uppercutting his opponent's nutsack He was also the original Joey before Joey Napoles Marquez is the one of the few featherweights I saw that had a great counter uppercut so I agree with Neil
One thing that was great about Arguello’s uppercut was that it wasn’t just uppercuts to the head. He threw a wicked uppercut to the body, which he would use effectively in the middle of a combination. Pedroza also threw effective uppercuts to the “body” (the other guy’s nuts) His uppercut against Santa Cruz is one of the best highlight reel uppercut KOs ever
Damn, forgot about Pedroza. Pedroza had an excellent right uppercut. His dirty tactics are also waaayyyyyyy overblown.
Saddler and Armstrong roll in their graves when Pedroza is called the dirties featherweight in history.
REED Would Say Prince Naseem Because of His POWER and the INVESTMENT He Put Into It...Dude Would Literally Lean to His Own Left or Right (Typically Right) and If/When He CONNECTED, There was a Noticeable Effect On His Opponent, MORE Times Than Not... In Terms of POWER and INVESTMENT, Give REED Prince Naseem @ '26. REED
Albeit that McCullough had an iron jaw, Hamed landed plenty of those shots vs Mac and couldnt shift him. Hamed did commit though. Weird angles, full commitment and malice.
What a nasty stoppage. Warrington truly shows an unbelievable uppercut, and power which makes Julian Jackson look like Maxie Rosenbloom.
