Well, it's not what I expected next for Penn but I like the fight. Hughes has some momentum behind him and they honestly split the first two fights. Neither guy is completely shot so it's an interesting rubber match. My only problem is I don't think Penn will have success at 170. If this is a permanent move, he is close to retirement because he can't beat the top guys at welterweight. GSP, Fitch, Alves all easily beat Penn. And I would pick Shields to beat him as well. Nice fight but a bad career move if Penn stays at 170.
First Penn has to actually beat Hughes which is certainly no lock. I wouldn't be surprised if Penn is made the underdog. If he loses naturally he's not going to stay at 170 anyway. If he wins he has options though.
