Foster by KO in the mid rounds. What exactly is Ward going to do? He's a guy that basically relies on getting inside, working the body, a little head butting and good defense. He can't fight him long range, he'll just get jabbed silly and if he gets close, he has to deal with Foster's left hook... it's a terrible style match for him... he's pretty game, I don't see him politely losing a decision, I think he'd try to make something happen and get hurt.
Ward was very good in finding ways to victory. Mikkel Kessler supposedly had same type of advantages against him and it wasn't even close, and Ward survived up close against Kovalev. And no, I am not being a contrarian, nor I say those guys are as good as Foster, nor I say Ward wins. But he has the ability to make even Foster work for it
Ward could make it rough inside and at times throw Foster off rhythm. But he’s gonna run into that left hook. And while Ward takes a decent punch, he can be hurt and knocked down. Wouldn’t want to find himself in the same spot Kovalev put him in against Foster.
I think Foster is the worst matchup at 175 for Ward. Ward's best chance would indeed be to smother Foster, because at long range he gets killed.
foster had the habit to telegraph a few of his punches, He was fast enough to get away with it, but Ward would be able to dodge a lot of his punches. Still, he's not winning rounds and he's getting caught with a bomb and koed eventually.
