I was watching tonight's fight with my dad and we were talking through the preliminary stuff...did I hear the announcers say that in one of the undercard fights or something that two guys fought and right after the fight it was diagnosed that they both had bleeding on their brains and would never fight again? Who were they talking about? (I didn't see any mention of it on any of the boxing news websites.) Thanks
i think they were talking about the Hopkins vs. Winky undercard....i think it was Oscar Larios and Amonsot, both who fought and got pounded.
Katsidis is thru too??? Or were they talking about his bleeding face and Czars bleeding brain and you got misled???:dunno: :dunno: :dunno:
Thanks Illuminati...after reading your post I was able to do a search and found an article about it. You were correct...it was Oscar Larios and Czar Amonsot they were talking about. http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/boxing/news/story?id=2945336 If you read that article, they say that one of them had two MRI's...the first showed no problem...but then a second showed the bleeding. That's some scary shit that it wasn't caught on the first exam...wonder if it was just dumb luck that they did the second exam?
the bigger loss is for Amonst. he showed a lot of promise against Katsidis, and although he lost, he landed some wicked shots himself, showed a sturdy chin, good hand-speed, and nice combinations. it's too bad he won't be allowed to carry on with his career. hard to believe it was he and not kats who was hurt. kats is the guy who looked beat up when the fight ended.
Here we go again with these feather-duster pussy-willow banning clauses. Take it from an experienced brain surgeon who's a proud patriotic american fight fan. You don't suffer organic damage until your cornea's burst open with dark red blood, such a circumstance DOES NOT open up an avenue for any fighter to promptly quit thier concurrent fight. But his career is probably over if the impending coma is survived and terminal retardation takes it grip, to which we should all cry hysterically and pledge donations for this sudden and unforseen tragedy.
