I'm so fed up with hearing this guy is a pussy for taking this fight instead of that fight (even though the fight he took made him more money) or people blaming Roy Jones for facing the supposed bums when he was on his hbo contract even though he made a lot of money doing that. Or V Klitschko for quitting versus Byrd in order not to damage the shoulder anymore thus preserve his money making career.

In the end those people box to provide for themselves and their families. They don't box for what's best for you they box for what's best for them. What makes most money makes the most sense especially when you have a job such as boxing. Not too many jobs where you could show up for work and by the end of your "shift" you could be a vegetable or dead. When a buddy works at McDonalds for couple bucks an hour. Should he show up do as much he has to to get those couple bucks or stay long hours work twice as hard for less pay and do it for the legacy of the hamburger?

Every professional sport is a business; people get that.

What the "business" athletes don't get is people don't pay for the business aspect of it, but the entertainment part.

Athletes can carry it however they want. If someone is in it just for the money, that's fine. But don't complain when fans boo you for fighting safety first, not legging out a grounder, believing your jump shot atones for your lack of defense, not committing to a tackle...

REED NEVER Gets it when People Try to Equate Million Dollar Athletes to "Regular" 9 to 5 Folks...When U're Getting GUARANTEED MILLIONS for ONE Night of "Work", People Should EXPECT U to Do More than just Half Ass it...

If you make money from an audience, you are an entertainer. It's not a regular job and shouldn't be treated like one by the fans and athletes.

Nobody wants to watch a loser flip burgers, no matter how much efforts he puts in it.

You cannot compare these jobs like this. Yeah, boxing is a job but if you take it as seriously as you'd take a job in a burger joint, you won't earn millions for long, if at all....

Boxing is not a job. Does your job have a hall of fame? Does your job's employees still get talked about and debated about years after they retired? Is their a history channel out their that let's you watch your job's former employees work? Sound's to me like it's a sport and a sport is entertainment. Professional athlete's get paid to entertain and the better they do the more they get paid.

Comparing sports to your average 9 to 5 is ridiculous. If you think anybody is going to pay $49.95 to watch you go flip some burgers and drop some fries, you've got another thing coming.
