Whether it's Ortiz this weekend, Marquez in November, Peterson in Decemeber...one of these guys needs to step up and win. Even if it's a Klitschko that falls....I think boxing needs an upset to spark interest.

I've always maintained a great series of fights carries more weight and sparks more interest than the same list of characters winning.

Think back to 2001...great year of boxing and upsets...

Lemmon vs Rahman I (Lemmon got his revenge)

    MAB over Handfed

    Hopkins over Trinidad

Strange to think that was 10 years ago and looking back on it it was a great year for fights. Floyd beat Corrales early in the year (not an upset, but the manner in which he won was.)

I might be in the minority but as far as I'm concerned the Mayweather vs Pac discussion is well past it's stale date. I don't care if they ever fight. I'd rather see a series of fights or new fighters emerge vs watching the same cast of characters dance around each other.

Like REED Said in the Other Thread, if Floyd INSISTS on NOT Fighting Manny Pacquiao, Hopefully Ortiz KO's him...He WON'T, but Hopefully he WILL...

I agree. We need a upset to shake things up.

This has been a seriously bad year for boxing. Seriously...has anything noteworthy happened this year?

i agree. i like floyd and respect his ability as a fighter, but he's kinda like hopkins. i dont really care to see him anymore unless of course, he fights pacquiao. but that fight's getting less and less interesting as they get older.

ortiz most likely won't be the guy to do it, but even if he does, it's not like he's really all that good to be a dominant champion. i think pacquiao would destroy him.

I don't even understand how people enjoyed boxing when there were so few belts to fight over. No platinum belts, no emritus champs, no diamond deluxe with cheese titles?

The problem is that whoever is willing to fight him and beat him. And by whoever i mean Mayweather. Then we are back to square one.

Haye vs Wlad was made and fought. The culmination of Super 6 will be a bonus.
