It's early in the election returns, but I think it's a safe bet that Sergio Martinez will be a near-unanimous pick for Fighter of the Year, with his plastering of Williams in the rematch being the KO of the Year. I'll say one thing, for positive trend or best story or whatever you want to call that category, I think the AIBA's World Series of Boxing is it for this year.
Decent choices are as choices go strictly limited to HBO. I thought Khan-Maidana was a better fight, but not by very much as both were terrific. There are three categories this year which are absolute slam-dunks: Fighter - Sergio Martinez Knockout - Martinez KO2 Paul Williams Robbery - Luis Lazarte D12 Archie Solis I can see more people picking Pascal-Hopkins strictly due to not having seen Lazarte-Solis. But on the other two, any choices other than those are coming strictly for the sake of contrarianism. Fight of the Year is a wide open race for the first time in a long time. Usually there's a runaway favorite or no more than two notable choices. In Boxingscene's own staff choices, I've already seen five different fights selected as the best (Segura-Calderon, Khan-Maidana, Marquez-Katsidis, Soto-Antillon, Hassan N'Dam N'Jikam UD 12 Avtandil Khurtsidze - though I have to admit, not only did I not see the last fight, but never even heard of either fighter). Lost in the shuffle was my own runner-up pick - Ricky Burns-Rocky Martinez.
HBO's Criteria are a joke. A joke. If its not on HBO and you didn't pay us for us then we won't rate it. :shit: Fight of the Year: Kessler vs Froch. No arguments. Runner Up: Burns vs Martinez. KO of the Year: Martinez vs Williams, Runner Up: Wlad vs Chambers Trainer Of The Year: Nobody, really. Fighter Of The Year: Manny Pacquaio. Retirement of the Year: John Ruiz. Hardest Matched Young Fighter of 2010: Saul Alvarez. Bitch Of The Year: Andre Dirrell
Ricky Burns vs Roman Martinez was not lost in my shuffle Jakester.....:nono: I saw that shit and it was an underrated little brawl with Burns climbing off the floor to outslug and outbox the Rican hardcase to win a deserved decision. I cannot believe you all musta4got Froch vs Kessler...that was A WAR.
You are nuts mate. Nuts. <iframe title="YouTube video player" class="youtube-player" type="text/html" width="425" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/b11Bvxta6yk" frameborder="0"></iframe>
I didn't forget it... very good fight, but not the best of the year. In my top 10, though. Have to say, up until Segura-Calderon, my personal pick was Antonio Escalate-Miguel Roman, a fantastic grudge match on ESPN2 earlier in the year. I had Froch-Kessler ranked right behind that fight, up until early September. Segura-Calderon and Burns-Martinez have remained my top two picks ever since they happened, fittingly enough in back-to-back weekends.
The shame of Knockout of the Year category is that in most other years, Daniel Ponce de Leon's KO of Antonio Escalante is a runaway favorite. This year, it's a very distant second. Wlad-Chambers was brutal as well.
I suggest people go back and watch Kessler vs Froch again. Khan finished the fight, 10th, 11th, and 12th, running aways. Neither Froch nor Kessler took a backward step. In fact the 12th round of their fight may well be the best round of the year, in that both men were in looking for the KO, and not just trying to survive. when you consider: *the quality of both men and their respective resumes *the title at stake *the ebb and flow of the fight and it's frenetic end where neither man took a backwards step *the progressive nature of the tournament they were in- where not just a win but rather how you won {in terms of damage absorbed, KO scored, etc} were key factors *the fact that one of them has had to take a sabbatical to let his injuries heal- and he won the fight! ....all adds up to make it a better fight than Maidana getting schooled or Khan running like all hell.

Froch-Kessler was a great fight, but Khan-Maidana was better. It's chunky, it's chunky, it's chunkaaayyyy
Everything else was in Dansk or English English so I got the only clip with the language you would understand.
That's laughable. You are fucked at boxing mate. Khan was in full retreat for the last 3 rounds. How the fuck does a great fight end with 3 minutes of trapeze artistry from one of the "combatants". Kessler vs Froch involved better fighters fighting with way more skill and just as much heart and desire and it ended strong with BOTH MEN looking for the KO.
I'm fucked? I just watch fights and enjoy them. You're a disgusting racist that picks and chooses what he likes based on that. I'm fucked? Please.
No offence Irish, but I can't help but get the feeling if Amir Khan rescued you single-handedly from the top storey of a burning building you'd criticise him for not putting the fire out
Godwins Law. You lose. You're still fucked by the way. Admit it. You've never seen Kessler vs Froch, have you?:dunno:
Of course I have. I watch everything. And it was a fun fight. But Khan/Maidana it wasn't. None of this changes the fact that you're an awful person, incapable of clear thought because all these colored chaps are holding you back. Ohhhh, it makes you angry, doesn't it?
Maybe I hate Maidana too? :dunno::dunno: Yes. That's it. It's my Maidana hate that does it. My storied and well illustrated career of Maidana hating. Khan ran. He fucking ran for 9 fucking minutes. The entire basis of the fight being great is HIM getting clocked with a right hand in the 10th. And, to make things worse, his response was to run like fuck. Nobody says that Oscar vs Tito was FOTY, with Oscar doing all the early work and Tito coming on strong against a jaded Oscar. I tried to address this in an earlier thread where I quoted the quality of the fighting and the combativeness of both men as being key.
