Undisputed Middleweight champion Jermain Taylor today shocked the boxing world when he made it known he will no longer be fighting Kelly Pavlik on September 29th. Instead, Taylor(27-0, 17 KO's) issued a public offer to newly crowed WBO welterweight champion, Paul Williams(33-0, 24 KO's.) Mr. Taylor said "I dont feel I have anything to prove against P-p-p-p-avlik, Paul W-w-w-w-williams is closer to my size. I just b-b-b-eat two very good m-m-m-middlweights in Spinks, and Ouma, now I'm g-g-g-gonna add a third in Williams". Paul Williams is so far unavailable for comment, but Taylor would like very much for Paul to step up and become the replacement for the September 29th date.

Beat hoax post ever! This is exactly the kind of crap Taylor would pull. The stuttering was a great added touch as well.

fk. i almost threw my key-board reading this, in true keyboard warrior fashion.

anyways, just read on fightnews that the fight is 99% ironed out. apparently, there's some question though as to what weight it will take place at. and that explains Taylor's declaration that he is moving up to 168.

but even at 165, or wherever they fight, i don't think it helps Taylor that much, unless he's been hindered all this time by weight loss and we just don't know it. but i never got that impression.

Did you read the entire interview with Pavlik? How can anyone not like this guy? Claims he was offered short money for the fight and just said fuck it and took it anyway. We need more guys like Pavlik.

yeah. you hate to see him get screwed but he's just being smart. he has incredible up-side if he's able to win this fight.

i also like the fact that he plans to unify and isn't talking about trying to fight ODH or Mayweather or some shit.

and i agree - if all fighters had his attitude? still, though, the real judgement comes once he's made it big and guys start wanting a piece of "him." if he manages to be the same guy he is now once that happens?

Yeah. He's a good guy. I also read the post-fight comments from Phony Margarita, and must say what a lil whiney bitch he is! Such a sore loser, whats funny he is he's the ONLY one crying robbery cause even Arum stood by the decision, which made Phony mad. This guy is a prick! I hope Cotto beats him to the point where he can never fight again.

Yeah, Tony was an idiot in the presser. At least Give williams some credit. That was no robbery, not by a long shot.

He'd be a FOOL not to take "short money" for the chance to unseat the TRUE Middleweight champion of the world and make a name for himself.

People ONLY play the money game when they've already "made it".

Let Pavlik be the true champion and at the front of every Sports page and boxing magazine and we'll see how many "short money offers" he accepts.
