    Fightnews:

Promoter Lisa Elovich of Pugnacious Promotion - who promoted the first Vera-Lee matchup - would like to present the Vera vs. Lee rematch on her July 25th ESPN2 FNF date, which is the annual "Future Night of Champions" at the Saratoga Springs City Center in Saratoga Springs, New York. "The first fight was a 'Fight of the Year' candidate and no doubt the rematch will be just as intense," said Elovich. "It's the right thing to do and it would be good for boxing!

It wasn't even fight of the Month. Not that that is a bad thing. March is probably the best Month that i can remember. There was enough great fights this Month to already come to the conclusion that 2008 is a great year for the sport.

Was Lee's loss a fluke? Do most of you guys think Andy's the real deal and that he should win the rematch?

Lee was pretty much landing that straight left at will, but Vera is a tough mofo. He pretty much weathered the storm and was landing some hards shots of his own while eating those punches. Lee was VERY hittable, and I wouldn't be surprised if Vera can pull it off again.

It Remains to B Seen if Andy Lee's the Real Deal or Not, but REED is Pretty Confident he'll Beat Brian Vera N the RE...

Why???...Vera Can ONLY Fight 1 Way...What U SEE is what U GET...He's NOT Gonna have any NEW Wrinkles to Throw @ Lee, when they Meet Again...

On the Other Hand, Lee CAN Fight Differently...

Get N BETTER Shape so he Can Pump that Jab as OFTEN & as HARD as Required...Get his Legs STRONGER so that he Can UTILIZE them More to Stay AWAY from Vera...Use his Right Hook More...TIE Vera Up on the Inside OR Actually FIGHT On the Inside...

    Lee CAN Fight Better...Vera CAN'T...

That's why REED Thinks Lee will Win the RE....

If he was the real deal he wouldn't have ever lost top a guy like Vera. A fringe contender at best.

The thing with Lee is he might end up being just a fringe contender, but with most fringe contenders they're solid in a lot of areas and not great in any. With Lee, he appears very good in some and very bad in others.

There could be a lot of ups and downs in his career, and it will probably depend a lot on the match-ups.

He certainly isn't what Manny Steward was hyping, but then few could achieve that status and it was apparent to me pretty early on Lee wasn't one of them.

If Vera stops Lee again, Emmanuel Steward should hang up his robe.

That was my prediction first time round...

A rematch will make or break Lee IMO.

He is good enough to beat Vera, who proved to be a rugged and durable guy, but he has to improve inside to do so, because Vera knows he can walk Lee down in the middle rounds even when he is being hit with the straight left and work Andy inside.

Andy has to cover up more, lean on his man more in the clinch and throw some damn uppercuts as Vera comes in to work. If he does so, it will shows that he is capable of learning and improving as a fighter which gives hope for his future aspirations. If not, he's in trouble, because you simply cannot reach an elite level if a guy needs no more than a good chin and good ability inside to beat you.

I think Andy can and will learn and will win this time, but it is a real defining moment for him.

I only caught a few rounds on youtube, vera aint all that, tough ok but Lee can take him.

I think he knows this and so does his team hence the fight being orgainised so quickly.

I really fancy Andy to get an early KO, I also think he is still a very good prospect, Manny's BS doesnt help him at all, Especially in places like this.

IMO Lee could be a future Champion, but Pav within a year.....hell No

It appears the rematch is off now.

It appears a rematch between "Contender" star Brian Vera and middleweight prospect Andy Lee is not going to happen, according to Vera's promoter Jeff Wald, who sees no reason for Vera to fight Lee again.
Lee, regarded as one of the best prospects in the sport, was stopped by Vera in the seventh round of their televised contest on March 21. Emanuel Steward, manager and trainer of Lee, had told various media outlets that rematch was being worked on for a July date. Wald told boxing scribe Dan Rafael that a rematch had no chance of taking place.
"Not a chance on God's earth," Wald said. "No reason to. Lee doesn't mean anything. There is no upside to a rematch. There are better fights out there for Brian. There are more meaningful opponents. I'm very proud of what Brian did because nobody gave him a chance. Why should we do a rematch? What for? There's better money elsewhere."

It's a lucky thing for Lee not to get that fight. He can't beat Vera at this point in time, IMO. Lee is still an amatuer fighter....and not a good one right now.
