Former WBO heavyweight champion, Shannon "The Cannon" Briggs is seeking a shot at Wladimir Klitschko, as he stated, "I've been calling out Klitschko for years and got no love." http://fightbeat.com/news_details.php?NW=2085
the hell with boring ass BRIGGS...but i would not mind say this fight....BECAUSE Wlad will fuck him up badly....
i would love to see wlad demolish him but only if the fight was scheduled for tomorrow....not 5 months from now and then 5 months off hearing all kinds of threats and bullshit from briggs only to have him throw a punch a round...
After Ray Austin and Lamon Brewster, I think its time for Wlad to fight a legitimate heavyeight again. He's had a 12 month or so break from tough fights. Time to nut up again and take on a top ten guy. Shannon Briggs is no top ten heavyweight.
exactly! Wladimir himself said he would get to choose his next oponent. That the IBF could not force any mandatory on him. So there is no reason he should be fighting bums.
I guess the problem of "who to fight?" is more difficult than it might seem. Who's available for him? Chageav and Ibragimov are tied up with each other. Peter and Maskaev seem to be in the same boat. After these guys, you're left with Byrd and Brock - who he's already beaten - and a bunch of shot or fnished fghters like Rahman, Holyfield, Oquendo, Toney and so on. I know personally, I think Valuev or Virchis are certainly top ten and worthy of a chance...but I'm just as sure that the US based fans would be disgusted and call it weak. I'm not sure what his next move is. Just hope its not Briggs, Lyakhovich or a member of that shot crew. Maybe Nipples can get a beating? :dunno: EDIT - Tony Thompson wouldn't be a bad option either.
Maybe he can avenge that devistating loss to Corrie Sanders, :eeeek: now that was truelly embarrasing,.. he got the Brewster rematch sure, but that's not the one that everybody remembers,..Corrie is still a stylistic nightmare to Wlad,...and perhaps he knows it?.. :nono: I also don't dismiss Briggs completely either,..yes he's fucked if the fight drags on a little bit, but if he starts to time Wlad coming in the way he did for Liakovich, he could pose some serious problems for the shakey and tentative Wlad :nono: . But, I guess Valuev is a pretty good option,..if you wan't to see a FIEND of a man, the size of a redwood, with the head of a tyrannasaurus rex, fall down and rattle the earth in a blood smered mess,..perhaps this fight's for you. Virchis, Thompson,..are good options,.. Ruiz? perhaps?.... Maybe he can MURDER Holyfield, and put to rest some of this ridiculous sensationalist hype, stemmed from seeing 780th ranked Lou Savarese go down from a left hook... :flip: Anyone but fucking Rahman you white girl!..
Shannon Briggs is a waste of life! Brownsville produced two top 15 all time heavys in Tyson, and Bowe...... then this bum came along! Then Zab just further embarassed the Ville.

I must admit, I would love to see Wlad just starch the shit out of Briggs. Just fuckin punish him. But I must stay consistent. Wlad needs to step up and fight someone legitamate. Chagaev/Sultan are fighting in October. He needs to fight the winner. There isn't and shouldn't be any excuses or debate on that. He should get it worked out with the IBF now, so there are zero roadblocks. In the meantime if he wanted to fight Briggs/Rock/Holy for a tune up and keep the rust off, sure.
If I manage Thompson, he doesn't get anywhere near Wlad right now. Thompson can beat any of the other champs and matches up well with most other fighters in the top 15. Quickly...Valuev? Yes. Ruiz? Yes. Chagaev? Yes. Ibrags? Yes. Briggs? Yes. Brewster? Yes. Lyakhovich? Yes. McCall? Probably wins, but no. Gomez? No. Akinwande? No. Wlad? No friggin way. Vitali? Nope.
So you're saying that Chagaev and Ibragimov are a step up from fighters like Peter, Byrd, Brock, and Brewster?
Yeah, I didn't exactly address your post directly. So... I think Thompson is the best US heavy so, imo, it would be a very good win for Wlad. But, right now, Thompson doesn't get the accolades and if Wlad blew him out or won easily, he'd gain nothing for his resume. If I am managing Wlad, I'd prefer that he not only get paid a nice paycheck for fighting a legit heavy who isn't a likely threat, but certainly is a possible threat. It ends up being a situation where what is best for both fighters is to avoid each other until Thompson builds up his resume better. This could be done in well under a year, I'd guess.
At least the title of this thread is appropriate "Briggs wants A SHOT at Wladimir" If that had read "shots" then I'd know Briggs was bull shitting..
