I think that every now and then when cdoggy goes in a rant about boxers today having lack of skills..he is talking about Periban style....he might have some skills..but in general he sucks...horrible balance, footwork, doesn't walk down the opponent kinda runs into them..looping right....can't really set up the left hook.....slappy rapid fire amateurish jab...and a bunhc of other wrong shit...

Periban also has that awkward Amir Khan style....standing infront of his opponent throws the right to the body leaving himself exposed...he jumps in with a right..then runs away off balance like baby bambi...and he throws a few hand flurries,,,

Word. They have got to fix this commentating team if Showtime is gonna continue to snatch up all of the prime time fighters. Bernstein is great for Friday Night Fights, but the cigarette-stained teeth, push-broom mustache and lack of real insight drown some of these broadcasts. Too bad Paulie isn't doing some color...wonder why?

Al was good in the 80's and 90's, but he's completely washed up and annoying at this point.

They should give Farhood his job.

 

Bernstein is a terrific historian and he's not terrible with the Xs and Os, but he's not good enough to be a true analyst and he has no other gimmick... Larry Merchant didn't know what the fuck he was talking about either most of the time but he had his gimmick (cynical, critical observer)

 

True in both accounts. I don't have too much of a problem with Bernstein in general, but at the upper level, he just can't carry the load. That, and he sounds like he smells like non-filtered Pall Malls.
