Bad take IMO. Canelo would bash Benavidez up just as easily.

    This is a close fight.

A year ago you were saying that Plant is a bum and would get bashed by Benavidez.

A year ago Plant had never fought anyone, let alone put up the best fight Canelo's had in years.

He didn't give Canelo all that many problems, and I called for the longest that he would do better than Stiff and BJS.

Plant has nothing to hold Benavidez off with. They'll be nothing close about it.

    You're overrating Benavidez.

Plant has more to keep him off than Gavril did.

I generally don't rate Benavidez much.

I think he's a good fighter, but he's gonna be nothing special in the 168 historical sense.

Calzaghe, Ward, Froch, and Kessler would have beaten the shit outta Benavidez. I'm pretty realistic about him.

Caleb just doesn't have enough pop, and mentally he came apart late in the Nelo fight.

David Benavidez and Caleb Plant will meet March 25 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Showtime PPV, sources tell ESPN. Big-time fight at 168 pounds.

    Ohhh fuck me!

So Showtime is putting on 3 PPV cards in like 4 weeks?????

    Horseshit.

15 years ago a Benavidez-Plant matchup would have been regular Showtime.

Anyway, I expect Bena to stop Plant inside of 10.

It'd be a helluva lot better for boxing if it were on regular Showtime.

Not gonna lie though, I'm gonna order it.

In fact, I'll probably order all four fucking PPVs: Bena-Plant, Spence-Thurman, Tank-Ryan, and Haney-Loma.

I respect both of these guys. honestly don't know who I'm going for here. I'm a southern boy like Caleb but I dunno... it'll come down to how much respect he can get from Benavidez

Caleb Plant is from Nasville right? I like his humor. He is an unintentionally funny dude.

    In talks for September.

Benavidez just has to get past LeMoo first.

Based on the Canelo performance, I cant see how Caleb has a prayer.

Hey, boxing fans! Who else is pumped for the upcoming fight between David Benavidez and Caleb Plant?! This is going to be one epic battle!

For those who haven't heard, this fight is a title eliminator, which means the winner will be one step closer to fighting for a world championship. Maybe Canelo?

This fight has been brewing for a while now, and the trash talk between the two fighters has been entertaining, to say the least. Benavidez has been calling out Plant for months, saying he's not a real champion and that he's ducking him. Plant, on the other hand, has been firing back, saying he's not scared of Benavidez and that he's ready to take him down.

So, who's going to come out on top? It's hard to say. Benavidez has the power and aggression to take down anyone in his weight class, but Plant is no slouch. He's a slick boxer with great footwork and a solid chin.

Personally, I'm rooting for Benavidez. I love his aggressive style and the way he throws punches in bunches. But, I wouldn't be surprised if Plant pulls off the upset. What seems pretty funny to me is that all these latin fighters lately have these father "trainers" with a big mouth. Like the Garcia's, the Lopez family, and Benevidez Sr is no exception. Kind of funny he acts so tough and was never a fighter himself.

Either way, this fight is going to be one for the ages.

Sorry if there is already another thread on this but didn't see one.

Already another thread about it. But yes, I’m excited and I’ll definitely buy it. Gotta support Benavidez who is also from Arizona.

    Benavidez vs Plant

I'm not hyped about this fight. Caleb Plant is so unimpressive that I don't care about him at all. Sure, knowing how Benevidez steps up is pretty interesting, but he doesn't really interest me either. But Benevidez never blew me away as some beast who I'm waiting to get his shot at the big time, like Ennis, or even Ortiz.

I'm not gonna pretend like I'm not glad the top contenders are fighter other top contenders while the champs doing his own thing, but it shouldn't warrant this much hype. It should be the norm. I think Inoue-Fulton, Taylor-Lopez, and Tank-Garcia are much more intriguing fights. If it comes off - which I doubt - Usyk-Fury, too.

Fights like this really should really be happening every month or so. And 20 years ago, they were. I don't wanna be that fuckin depressing guy, who's nit-picking every single fight but I think I've just gotta accept at this point lol

I was actually planning on making a final prediction thread tomorrow and making that the thread we use for the fight. BF is in luck - I'll let this be the official thread we use and merge the old one.

But yeah, I'm looking forward to it, not gonna lie. I plan on ordering it.

Plant is the biggest test of Bena's career thus far. I expect him to pass the test with flying colors, but much bigger upsets have happened.

My official prediction is Benavidez in 9.

Benavidez via late stoppage. Plant might get off to a good start but I expect Benavidez pressure and power to be too much over the long haul.

I'm looking forward to this one more than Davis-Garcia. Plant doesn't have a great chance, but he has a better shot of an upset than Ryan does.

This fight is not for another week ffs!

As far as the match up, I agree it all comes down to whether or not Plant can get Bena's respect. But Plant impressed in his last outing with a one punch KO of Dirrell. Yeah Dirrell is past it but 1 punch KOs are rare.

Also, Benavidez has been in soft and enjoys a major size advantage over most of his opponents. His best win is probably Dirrell. To be fair, Caleb's resume isn't great either. These guys have both managed to reach the near top fighting surprisingly nondescript comp.

Timmy the head basically called Plant a front runner and said he'll mentally folder under pressure. I tend to agree. I don't like what I saw outta Plant in the Canelo fight. Seems he's got him some bitch in him.

Agreed, seems like he folded a bit easily when the going got tough. Might be on of those odds occurrence where he was more fucked than it seems, but it wasn't a good look imo. As such, I expect Benavidez to win a wide UD or late ko in a ugly fight where Plant is super negative
