Joe has been a great champ. But his stock has been a bit overrated due to the fact that the 168 lb division has always been lackluster.

Good God, it took a win over the one dimensional and relatively untested Jeff Lacy to finally get,..after all these years...any credit for Joe.

Kessler is the most skilled and talented fighter Calzaghe has faced since Chris Eubank,..and he was past his prime when Joe beat him.

Unless Mikkel completely falls apart because of the event in Wales........I see him beating Joe like Joe beat Lacy.

Kessler either late round TKO or wide decision.

I've just got too much racial pride to be objective, I wish there was a way BOTH could win.

I don't know, I'm too locked on skin colour to think rationally, white skin, glorious white skin, we'll see what happens in the coming days.

In a draw they both lose, how could Kauki justify picking both brothers to lose. Oh the hate for Calzaghe and Kessler, they have been successful for too long, I mean they had white celebrities, white pop singers, when did all this happen...

I WANT Kessler to win, but I fear that Joe will escpe with an undeserved decision victory.

That is my fear. I think that Joe takes this fight because he realizes this will be a punch for punch affair and that home town judging will give him the edge in a close contest. It makes perfect sense for him to take this fight under those conditions.

These guys fight very similar far as I can see. It suprises me that many people in the know are picking an obvious winner.

Kessler has to really have a plan for that because close rounds will go to Calzighe.

I would be very curious how you see so much domination from Kessler. You are one of the guys in the know IMO and frankly it suprises me that more than a few guys who analyze fights correctly are picking either of these guys to be an obvious winner. What will Mikkel do that dominated Joe so much?

To me I see two very similar orthodox guys who both throw enough punches to win rounds, with a similar KO percentage and.... while you can give the slight edge to Calzighe for experience you can give a slight edge to Mikkel for the comp he has fought.

At this point the only scenerio I can see is a close decision going to Joe after a tit for tat affair... a decision that is home town judging, partially.

dsimon don't talk shit, Calzaghe's resume is not great, but it's far better than Kessler's. And Calzaghe is a southpaw too, with a fairly unorthodox style  Kessler is a typical Euro robot.

Calzaghe wins this simply because he is better. Faster, stronger, more experienced and more skilled.

Honestly, Calzaghe's resume isn't "far" better, just slightly which is kinda funny. Kessler is clearly the guy not afraid to take the bigger fights. At 168 currently he has defeated 3 guys in the top 10 and 2 of them are top 5. As for Calzaghe being more skilled? Hell no. Calzaghe may have the quicker hands but Kessler throws the more precise punches in a more skillfull manner (straight punches).

Kessler by MD. I think both men will be hurt at different points in the fight, and I wouldn't be surprised if there was a big clash of heads resulting in a cut and a premature end.

I don't think Calzighe is unorthodox. And his comp better? Answer me this would Kessler have done the same to Lacy? I would bet the house he would have. Ashira ? come on Calzighe has more experience but his comp is hardly better.

How is Kessler's resume better? Who has he beaten that is better than Lacy, let alone Eubank?

Lacy was exposed there is a good chance any decent jabber would have done the same. Beyond that neither guy has beaten anyone of any note since Joe beat Eubank years ago.

You are telling me that you honestly think Joe Calzighe has beaten a consistenty higher level of comp than Kessler? :dunno:

You can't say that, and Lacy was't exposed exactly, he was just shown to be the limited puncher he is. Did you pick him to outbox Calzaghe?

And we don't know anyone else would do the same, because Lacy has only lost to Calzaghe.

The fact is, Calzaghe was an underdog, lots of people picked Lacy to KO him, and joe just beat the fuck out of him for 12 rounds.

And that's exactly what I am saying, that though he's had his share of bums, Calzaghe has beaten better opp throughout his career than kessler.

Again, who has kessler beaten that's better than calzaghe's comp?

I grant you that we don't know for sure what Kessler would have done to Lacy, but if you were a betting man and they were fighting who would you pick Kessler or Lacy? And Lacy was most definitely exposed.

You can't base Joe's level of comp on that fight exclusively. I am not even saying that Joe's comp is bad (but it is bad) just that Kessler has fought better. Andrade was a tough fighter for example. Mundine and Beyer are also better fighters than most of the guys Calzighe has fought in the past years... guys like Ashira.

For the amount of time he has fought Kessler had overall fought stronger guys. I give him a slight edge. You will be calling me daddy when Kessler smacks that Welshman from piller to post.

But seriously I do think it will be a great fight. I am looking foward to this one and the Mayweather Hatton bout with great anticipation.

I want to put this question to you Mex: regarding the Kessler fight how do you see any guy dominating?:dunno: To play devil's advocate lets say you are right and Calzighe fought better comp... You couldn't say it is that much better, and you really think Calzighe is that much faster and stronger than the Danish Viking? What are you seeing that I am missing?
