I won't make another p4p list in my life, but I started to think that Canelo must be ranked among the best fighters in the world, if not at #1. The thing is, all fighters who challenge themselves start to show weaknesses. Loma found his limit at 135, Inoue struggled against Donaire, Spence hasn't blown out Brook, Porter nor Garcia, Usyk had a difficult scrap against Briedis (of course now Usyk isn't top-50 in the world). Crawford has looked spectacular, but so have all the rest when they have faced subpar opponents. If he trashed Spence, he'd be the best in the world. As of now, Canelo has a legit shout. After questionably beating Golovkin, he has beat his best challenger with room to spare, knocked out old man Kovalev and looked spectacular taking out trash (Fielding). Nobody has been clearly more impressive than him
His career is too manufactured to call him the very best fighter in the world. Bud is a lot more multidimensional.
Fuck thay. Too much bullshit surrounding him. Kovalev fight was shady as fuck. A guy like Kovalev I'm sure values money over honor.
Moreover, his wins are not aging well. Golov is well past it. Kovalev was completely shot, yet still in control until he got KOd. Jacobs just arguably lost to Rosado. Canelo is not fighting murderers' row. He's taking calculated risks. I actually credit him for fighting Smith.
While i don't think clenelo is that good of a boxer, the rest of the top p4p dont have the resume he has, and its not even close. Hes a bit of a nb1 by default, cause im not sure he's the best boxer around, but at least hes trying to prove it
Objectively Speaking, There’s Really NO OTHER Worthy Candidate Than Canelo Alvarez, Aside from Bud Crawford... Then, You Look @ Their Respective Resumes and It’s OBVIOUS Canelo is Currently #1 in the World Lb for Lb... Lingering Biases Prevent Fans From FULLY Embracing It, But If Canelo Ain’t # 1, NOBODY Is... REED
Crawford, Spence and Canelo are in my top 5 P4P fighters. I'm not sure if Canelo is #1 as of today but decisively beating Callum Smith would certianly put him up there.
Inoue has to do a lot better than what he did against a pretty shot donnaire to be considered the top fighter in the world
