Bloody good move in my opinion. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/boxing/13158472.stm Barry Hearn has revealed he is keen to promote WBC super-middleweight champion Carl Froch, after the fighter split with representative Mick Hennessy. Froch announced the end of his partnership with Hennessy this week and Hearn told BBC Radio Nottingham: "We feel a bit sorry for Carl. "He's a great fighter who's never really had the exposure he deserves. "He's showed fantastic character to win fights in foreign lands and that's the mark of a great fighter," he added. Froch, 33, who has announced he will be promoting himself for his next two fights, told BBC East Midlands Today: "I've been self-promoting for ages, to be honest. "I'm no longer working with my representative, Mick Hennessy. I'm going it alone. "[The relationship] went wrong in a lot of areas - it's in the hands of the lawyers. I'm having to do it myself now and I'm a lot better off." Froch's next Super Six fight is in the United States as he takes on the Jamaican Glen Johnson on 4 June in Atlantic City, New Jersey. "My son Eddie runs our fight division, and is an even bigger fight fan than me, and he said to Carl, we'd love to promote you in England.
He should have done this years ago. Hennessey should be bloody ashamed at how he has handled Froch who, for all of his faults, has been fighting top level comp for near three years now back-to-back. MTF
I knew this one would catch your eye!!! Yes...Froch just might be the least-known, least-appreciated fighter with that sort of record. The fact that he knocked out years ago a guy that Bute has just beaten speaks volumes of whats going on at 168
Yeah, threads like this tend to draw me away from my very busy life...:blackcloud: Froch has arguably the best resume of any British fighter in history yet he is an absolute unknown outside Nottingham. That is Hennessey's fault and it is shameful on his (Fat Mick's) part: it's as if he has somehow 'un-promoted' one of the most marketable fighters in the world right now. I'm not to be drawn on Bute. My feelings towards him have been made clear before and need not be repeated... :shit: MTF
:crafty: Spinnage, spinnage. The point is, Bute should be condemned for the typical opportunism of business taking advantage of home-town cattle,.. but since there is an agendering link to Froch,.. 'waiver it' you say, like the commision, 'waiver it'...:crafty: I also must remind posters,.. that the British press howl in everybodies ears about thier fighters more than anybody amongst english speaking countries, and Haye is an excrutiating example of this. I see it for myself that Froch is still acknowledged enough from the perspective of general boxing news on a global scale,.. he's there aplenty, declaring something hollow up the index, banging his chest, selling himself, wanting another million or so. I dont know why we really have to put up with talk-back radio hysteria over sports stars,.. as if sports celebrities in general are extremely important?..:nono: I think the lesser aggressive capitalism the better you saxon searpent.
