I'd probably have to go with Froch, though both fighters are tough to handicap - in MM's and IRL. Not really sure I see Benn outboxing him - not out of the question, but would take a far more disciplined performance than Nigel has historically offered. His best chance would be by knockout, which I don't see Froch letting happen. Benn's the bigger puncher, but arguably the more fragile of the two (I still don't know what to make of Froch, TBH). Froch appears to be the more resourceful and I see that being the difference in a fight that is close and exciting (albeit sloppy) but gets away from Benn down the stretch. If Froch doesn't stop him late, then he probably does enough in the final 3-4 rounds to turn a close fight into a clear UD.
I'm with Benn here. Benn is always hard to quantify in MM's because his standout win (McClellan) was so much better than anything else he did and he lost a couple to equally difficult to quantify fighters. However, the only thing Froch does better he is take a punch more effectively and I'm still unconvinced that Froch is the iron-chinned warrior some would have me believe. He certainly has a good chin but Benn would hit him a hell of a lot harder than anyone else has done or will do and Benn would definitely hit him because Froch's defence is gash. Kessler hurt Froch more than once, as did Pascal and Taylor dropped him hard- how is Froch going to react to Benn's left hook? :dunno: To beat Benn you had to have a very good chin, good defence and hit very hard. I'm not convinced that Froch hit's hard enough, has a good enough defence or has a good enough chin. Benn wins in a war. MTF
Lol. Tough one to call, would be close. Benn hit hard, was athletic and his style was energetic. Froch edges this for me by boxing sensibly, not getting dragged into a war if needed, picking his punches better. Froch UD
Hmmm...Benn isn't going to be discouraged simply by a few stiff jabs in the face- you had to back him up with combination punches and you had to be willing to take a few in return. That's why Eubanks and Watson were able to beat him- granite chins the pair of them and hard, combination punchers. Froch is all low hands and single, wild (or 'unorthodox' as you have to call them now), looping shots. This isn't Arthur Abraham we are talking about here: Benn may not have been exactly A+ standard himself but he was a LOT better than Abraham and, for that matter, anyone else Froch has beat in his fine recent run.
