I like Baldomir in a come from behind win, too. Maybe the 10th or 11th

Bumlomir batters him. Even an onfocused Judah was a FAR better fighter than Victoria.

Judah not being better than Ortiz? WTF????? There's NO CASE for Ortiz being better than Zab. NONE!

The biggest knock on Zab was him being a headcase, but Ortiz is 5x the headcase that Zab is, and Judah was overall MUCH more talented.

Ortiz beating Berto is his crowning achievement, but to be very honest, Judah on his best day would have smoked bum ass Berto.

Ah Judah's mythical 'best day' that NEVER actually materialized. He looked good against feather fisted Cory Spinks. That's it. Beating Berto & Peterson took at least as much 'talent' as Zab ever actually manged to demonstrate over the course of an entire fight.

    They're both headcases/losers.

There's literally NOTHING Ortiz has over Judah in terms of talent. Not ONE damn thing. Not even power. Zab was a bigger puncher. Zab was faaarrrrr faster, and while he was hardly Whitaker, he had better technical skills and defense than Ortiz as well.

I mean, Zab was hardly an elite fighter, but to compare him to a TOTAL joke like Ortiz is a bit on an insult.

Yeah, he looked like maybe he shoulda been good. In theory he was great. But in reality he wasn't.

Well, a damn near WASHED UP Judah was good enough to own an "official" win over Matthysse. Lucas won the fight, but Zab did better than Devon The Fake managed to do. I don't think ANY version of Ortiz beats ANY version of Lucas.

Prime for prime, Judah knocks Ortiz out. I think you'd be hard pressed to find anyone on the forum other than you who would think otherwise.

    Ortiz absolutely fuckin BLOWS!!

Judah was a good fighter in his prime. He was just crap if you compare him to the enormous hype he had.

Ortiz was just crap in general.

Oh, and don't bring up the Spinks fight....... prime Spinks would kick the shit outta Ortiz.

Matthyse lost to Devon Alexander a fight later, and I thought Judah lost. It's hardly more impressive than Berto or Peterson

To say Judah's a bit better than Ortiz fair enough there's isn't some big gulf in class between them like you're making out.

'Prime Spinks'. Come on man. How long was that prime - the night he split decisioned Mayorga or does it extend to when he went 1-1 with Piccilino or whatever the fuck his name was?

He also beat Karmazin right after Karmazin had thrashed Ouma. That was Spinks best win, not Mayorga.

It's not that Spinks, and Judah were that good........ Ortiz is just THAT fuckin horrible.

Judah was shit... He was better than Ortiz but not by a huge margin... Cory Spinks was a completely shitty fighter...

Anyway... with regard to this fight, Baldomir was a horrendous fighter, a clubfighter whose only "skill" was the ability to take a punch... Against The King Of Facelube, that is probably enough... Ortiz probably opens up dominating and landing at will... Eventually, the feather-fisted Bum starts hitting back and after a while Ortiz just doesn't feel like he deserves getting hit like that

Judah hung tough with peak versions of Floyd, and Cotto. Whereas Floyd basically toyed with Ortiz, and let's be honest, Ortiz doesn't go more than 5 with a prime Cotto.

    He barely beat Karmazin...

Spinks deserved an "L" against a 137 year old Rafael Pineda, for fuck's sake

He was perfect for judah... a skittish, pussified, negative fighter with no power at all... even still, it isn't like it was easy for Judah

Ortiz was perfect for Judah as well. A bigger headcase than himself. Plus, Ortiz's defense is pathetic, and his chin is shit. And even when he gets guys hurt, he's a HORRIBLE finisher.

Zab was far from Joe Louis, but his finishing ability was superior to Ortiz's. He wasn't AS easy to hit either.

He "hung tough"? He did what he always did, started out flashing teh handspeedz and after a few rounds, his opponents adjusted and started taking over and he began complaining to the ref, shying away from exchanges, feigning injury and doing what he always did - quit without actually quitting

Judah showed some pride only once in his career, against Danny Garcia when he was way behind and pretty much went for broke

That flashy handspeed is the main advantage Zab (Mr. Hanky) has over Ortiz and it enabled him to give the illusion of competitiveness in fights where he was truly outclassed...

I agree he's better, but that doesn't make him good

yeah, if you ignore the fact that he hits very hard with both hands and he's a big, strong fighter... Judah's not the hardest guy in the world to hurt or discourage himself... I'd put my money on Ortiz quitting first but it's not some quick whitewash for Judah, either

What do you define as a "good" fighter?

There's bums, average guys, good fighters, very good fighters, great fighters, and the select few like Leonard, Whitaker, Jones, Floyd who were "special" fighters.

Zab wasn't even very good, but he was above average.

I meant it only relative to the discussion... simplified... Judah, yay or nay? I say nay

In the way you're talking in this post, then he is certainly "good"

Overall, nay. He was a waste of talent, and lacked IQ.

Compared to Ortiz? Yay, as Victoria just blows.

Probably Berto. Six Heads was truly horrible.

I wouldn't put any money on it though. Six Heads winning wouldn't be outta the question.

I doubt Zab in his prime would lose to anyone as terrible as Whoesito Lopez.

Baldomir is Duran compared to Lopez.
