I don't know if this has been covered already but I came across an article in my local paper today regarding Dawson and Mayweather Sr. who trained him for his last two fights before he dropped him for Eddie Mustafa Muhammad (who I guess co-trained Dawson with Mayweather for the Adamek fight). Among the quotes from Dawson regarding Mayweather: "I have nothing against Floyd Mayweather, because he is a great trainer, It's just that sometimes he is a great trainer is his own mind. When you are training a southpaw like a righthander, that is not good. Floyd Mayweather trains everyone the same way. I need different combinations because I am a different fighter." "As far as I am concerned , he slowed me down. I wasn't really learning that much with him. He is a negative guy. You don't tell a fighter you are going to get knocked out if you don't do this. You don't tell a fighter that. When I heard his negative comments, I just brushed them off. He is not a nice person at all." I hadn't seen these comments before and thought they were interesting. Sour grapes or is Dawson spot on about Floyd Sr?

the talk I've heard is that mayweather sr cannot train southpaws. I was surprised dawson ever hired him.

IMO all the Mayweather are overated as trainers....Uncle Roger praises himself as a great trainer..but who has he train other than Mayweather jr? :dunno:

DAwson needs to pick a trainer and stick with him already. I'm not judging what happened between him and Floyd sr. But this is his 3rd trainer in the last 3 fights. :nono:
Chad makes many, many glaring fundamental errors. He needs someone to teach him boxing 101, maybe Mustafa is the one for him.
