I should clarify my stance. I think Manfredo will deserve the decision. Obviosuly he won't get it in Texas.
That's the best one, but there are so many. I have a soft spot for the totally unintelligible, illegible, nonsensical ones like the one in DJ's sig.
Manfredo trying to come forward and apply pressure, but he's eating most of the clean shots. Surprisingly, Lederman does not have him ahead.
It was a pretty bad stoppage actually, Manfredo wasn't punching back, but he was avoiding almost every punch.
Thing to remember - question isn't if manfredo was hurt obviously he was. Question is did the fight need to be stopped. It didn't. It was a bad stoppage. 5 seconds later maybe its not a bad stoppage. At that moment though it was.
Yeah that was a quick stoppage in my mind. Also the fact that Manfredo worked his way into the fight and was competitive makes it even more so. Chavez Jr was gonna win it anyway I think. But the fight was unfolding.
Didn't Manfredo get stopped in a similar fashion before? His Sakio Bika fight? (I didn't see tonight's fight, but the way it's being described - that he was getting hit with a barrage and didn't do anything to fight back even though he didn't look like he was on his way out - sounds familiar.)
I honestly don't know one person at ringside who thought it was a bad stoppage. The worst anyone in the media (excluding HBO, didn't hear them although Max admitted he jumped the gun) said was that it looked a bit premature, but Manfredo was on his way out. Manfredo got nailed by a right hand and made a facial expression like "Oh shit, there goes my focus". Chavez Jr knew he was hurt and wisely jumped on him. Sequence went on for a while and Peter was too hurt to even thinking about clinching or taking a knee until it was too late. Personally, I thought Chavez looked great (relatively speaking). Oh and Karl was at ringside! Actually a nice fella, cracking jokes throughout.
