So I guess the Garcia team gameplan is fight EVERY washed up left over of Porter and Thurman. First, he fights a shot Paulie who was previously destroyed by Porter, now he's fighting a shot Guerrero who was dominated by Thurman and got a gift over Aaron Martinez.

Tale of two different Ricans. Last night we witnessed a Rican in Cotto who's fought literally EVERYONE. And then we have Danny Gift, who's been protected ever since getting exposed by Herrera.

    Typical Al Haymon matchmaking.

All we can hope for is the winner faces the winner of the Thurman-Porter fight which may never happen anyway.

Summer of 2025, "Reliable sources at PBC have informed us that Thurman-Porter should have a date and venue finalized this week."

At this point I really wish Spence could leave PBC and sign with Top Rank. He has HBO Championship boxing level talent, he shouldn't be on a fuckin Spike TV undercard.

I have the same beef. Spence would be much better taken care of and would get more EXPOSURE there. I don't know what his contract situation is, but maybe somebody could buy him out? :dunno:

Haymon and Showtime's recent year success was all predicated on Floyd. With Floyd now retired, it's gonna hard to become a star if you aren't fighting on HBO.

Especially when fights that people wanna see aren't getting made.

But yes, a fighter the caliber of Spence needs to be fighting on HBO and MAIN EVENTING to get his name out there.

Fighting on PBC won't get it IMO.

Garcia is an entertainingly fighter and there's a lot of good fights they can make. Khan, Peterson rematches, or even Broner. This is bizarre match making from Al.

I would rather watch Angel Garcia fight Ruben Guerrero.

Well at least the press conferences will be fun.

I don't think it's bizzare. We know the Haymon formula by now.

Pad your fighter's record with careful matchmaking for as much money as possible, and then cash him out when he's ready.

Garcia's credibility needs repairing after some questionable performances and Guerrero being slow and washed up, will probably make Danny look better than he has in a while.

Khan is semi-retired at this point. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Khan retired in the next year, since he failed to secure Floyd and Manny. Khan has no more interest in boxing, he really doesn't. He just wants a cash-out at this point.

Garcia is NOT fighting Peterson again.

Garcia-Broner won't happen because Garcia can't make 140 anymore and Broner is gonna avoid welter at all costs for awhile.

I know who Garcia SHOULD fight next... but he won't. He don't want that ass whuppin.

I'm not the biggest Ginger fan, but if that one were possible I'd watch it.

I'd enjoy every moment of Canelo battering Cherry Garcia.

What do you figure Al's plan is for Spence in 2016?

Do you think he'll try to talk Danny Gift into taking that fight?

I guess it depends on the ambition of a fighter.

If they want to make good money for easy fights (Like Floyd and Broner), then they're with the right promoter.

In Spence's case, he wants the top guys but they don't seem to want him.

I'd rather he be with Top Rank or Golden Boy that way he can main event on HBO and get better exposure.

The best part of this matchup will be the daddys at the press conference but I get the feeling that Ruben Garcia probably knows his son is washed up by now. And Angel probably gets the drift that his son is getting easy fights.

Speaking of Garcia, what the fuck happened to Mikey Garcia? Did he fall off the planet?

Doesn't matter. Neither Angel nor Ruben is capable of STFU. They'll be guaranteed trash talk.

As for the fight itself. Guerrero is too used up to be a threat for Cherry at this point. A few years when Guerrero was sharper this might actually be a close fight, as Garcia isn't very good. But now he'll just be a punching bag for Garcia.

And in regards to Mikey, he's been on the shelf due to promotional problems.

Is it sustainable? One crappy fight after another? While fights people care about get made by tr and gbp?

And the ONLY compelling PBC matchup (Thurman-Porter) keeps getting pushed back.

Haymon's model is a detriment to the sport. Should re-name it PBS - Premier Boxing Showcases.

i guess we shall see. at some point you'd think the guy would have to start making compelling fights to continue his model. it could be he's just overpaying his guys and bilking his investors as he takes his managerial percentage from every fighter. time will tell in the next 2 years

Haymon must have a shit eye for talent. Cause the MOST talented guy he has on his roster is Spence, and he puts the guy on the undercard of an average fighter in Jermall Charlo.

What Haymon should do is realize he has a potential star in Spence. The kid has the talent, charisma, and looks to be a crossover star. After Garcia whups Guerrero, Haymon should pressure Team Garcia into a fight with Spence.

Have the winners of Spence-Garcia and Thurman-Porter face eachother, so he can CLEARLY determine who his best PBC welterweight is.

But the sonuvabitch is obsessed with showcases.

Haymon is so bad that I miss prime Don King. Say what you want about DK, but he was allllll about making the fights people wanted to see. Even NOW, at damn near 90, the only quality fighter King has left is Imam and DK ain't tryna coddle Imam. Imam has one more showcase fight left this weekend, then King wants him in there with Postol.

    FUCK Haymon!

My instincts tell me that Haymon will keep Spence down and protect his top names from him.

Floyd Mayweather deserves blame for this too. He has openly BRAGGED about safe match-making for the most money and now we got all these guys adopting that same mind frame.

Evidence so far is Thurman's apparent RELUCTANCE to sign on the dotted line to face Shawn Porter... WTF would he be holding out for??? :scratcher:

Mayweather ain't coming back. Pacquiao is likely to face one of Crawford or Khan. Garcia vs Guerrero has been made. He's scared to fight Spence.

I'm legitimately PERPLEXED about this. This is a guy who has been very outspoken about facing top names in the division and how guys need to fight each other and he has been very quiet all of a sudden...

    This makes no sense.

Agreed. Don King was not the most well liked guy, but he got fights MADE...

And even though Arum in his day was a little weasel, when he had to, he played ball as well.

PBC is a JOKE... And almost all those fighters there are a joke as well.
