Fucking hell, it REALLY doesn't seem like a year. It seems like a couple of months ago, I still remember being shocked. Chico quickly became one of my all time favourite fighters, I still can't believe he got killed. RIP Brave Warrior.
Chico's losses have nice rewatch value. His complete lack of defense and willingness (or stupidy) to walk forwards in the ring made for entertaining beatdowns
You didn't read the reports regarding the speed he - an inexperienced rider - was going in a residential area, intoxicated at a level that was three times the legal limit?
ITS REALLY NOT KOOL MAN ONE LESS ENTERTAINING WARRIOR IN THE WORLD OF BOXING WHERE IT IS FLOODED WITH CATS WHO DONT EVEN WANT TO FIGHT EACH OTHER AND WHEN THEY DO IT IS HORRIFICALLY TERRIBLE
He may not have deserved to die.. but maybe God made it happen to prevent him from killing others on the road that day.
....... As a fighter Corrales was great entertainment and a true warrior. As a person Corrales had big issues.
R.I.P Chico. I'm still upset that baby fat Juan Campbell never had the balls to fight Chico at 135. If he had, they'd be having a memorial service at The University of Houston for Nate's son right now.
And whilst Chico will always be remembered in the ring as a warrior with great heart, lets not also forget that he was one of the biggest punchers in the history of 130-135.
Yep, his left hook defied logic. It could travel 6 inches and look like an arm punch, yet still knock mofos the fuck out. He had weird power, a brilliant puncher indeed.
I liked Corrales's short compact punches and fluid combos. The speed and power of his combos on the inside were very impressive. His first fight with Castillo is my favorite fight of all-time. Yep. As a fan, I'd like to think he changed his life with the spousal abuse. He obviously still had his alcohol problems (which played a part in the abuse I believe) which ultimately cost him his life.
I give Juan a shot at beating Chico. Ill never forget Corrales-Castillo. Best fight ever. Ironic that not only it is a 1 year anniversary of his death but 3 years exactly to his first fight with Castillo.
Poor Joe Goossen, he rightfully went public about Chico ripping him off bigtime, then Chico hits the piss, hits his wife, jumps on his motorbike and crashes into a daycare centre at 100 miles an hour, so Joe had to shut up for fear of being 'beat down' as an insensitive prick.
R.I.P. Chico... 1 of THE Most Consistenly Fan-Friendly Fighters EVER...NEVER Ducked Anybody, NEVER Took the Easy Way Out... Boxing is WORSE than it Was, Now that Chico is Gone... For those of U Acting HOLIER than THOU N Regards to Chico's Personal Life , Look N the Fucking MIRROR...How Many Times have YOU Driven Under the Influence of Alcohol (B HONEST w/Yourself), even SLIGHTLY Intoxicated???... & Unless YOU were There During the Spousal Abuse Incident, DON'T Pass Judgement...Chico has Maintained that the Situation was Blown OUT of Proportion...Considering how HONEST he was N Assessing HIMSELF During his Career, is it DIFFICULT To Believe him N the Case w/his Ex-Wife???:dunno: REED Wasn't There & NEITHER were YOU... So SPARE REED your CLASSLESS Attempts @ "Humor" AND that Goody Two Shoes BULLSHIT...YOU or People YOU KNOW have Done As Bad or WORSE than Chico has... Self-Righteous Motherfuckers... REED
So since Corrales got himself killed we should all love him? I never really liked him as a fighter nor do I think he was very good
He was a good fighter. I would say the toughest fighter i have ever seen. Chico is probably pissed at the way he died. Im convinced he wanted to die in the ring.
Not @ All... But Since U "Never Really Liked him as a Fighter" OR Thought he was Very Good, WHY were U Compelled to POST on a "Chico Anniversary" Thread???:dunno: ... U're ATTEMPT @ Humor WASN'T Cute or the LEAST Bit Funny...N Fact, it was CLASSLESS & Makes U Look like a PRICK... REED
Three times the legal limit at the speed he was going is hardly "slightly intoxicated". And this "REED Wasn't There & NEITHER were YOU..." standard can absolve just about anybody of any action that didn't happen in your immediate presence. How convenient. And the "holier than thou" argument isn't any worse than your "YOU or People YOU KNOW" argument.
