GOOD, HIGH LEVEL Boxing Match:bravo:... Chocolatito's Face Looked PUFFIER than Normal, Pre-Fight...His Power DIDN'T Affect Cuadras as it Has Other Foes, Either...115 Just Might Be Dude's CEILING, 118 Max... REED Wouldn't Mind Seeing a Diaperweight Double Header Featuring Chocolatito Against Whomever, and Cuadras vs. the Consensus TOP DOG @ the Weight, Inoue...Winner's Throw Hands Summer of 2017... REED:hammert:
Not only was Chocolatito more banged up than any fight previously he didn't look quite the same after the first few rounds. Usually he's the consummate technician throwing beautifully timed combinations and always appears in complete control. Not that he didn't show any of that last night, but it wasn't his usual performance. He had to force the action more than usual and got tagged a lot in return.
Roy should be ashamed of himself. Choco is NOT as good as a prime Arguello, idgaf what the HBO hype machine says.
Nah it's not that. I noticed the same thing in his last fight. His skills are fading because he's caught Tito syndrome and is falling too in love with his power to the detriment of his boxing skills. Those beautiful combos, ring generalship and technical skills are history. Once you let them go they don't come back. All Chocola-Tito is now is a pressuring brawler who never stops coming forward taking punches to give punches. It's a fucking shame too.
That's what happens when someone with that style fights bigger guys. He doesn't seem "in love with his power" at all. Cuadras showed early in the fight he could muscle Gonzo around but he still got broken down. Gonzo did a great job placing those left hooks in between Cuadras wide combos. He's a fucking machine too. Every time it looked like he was spent he'd just take a deep breath and fuck Cuadras up until he had to run off. I was very impressed because Cuadras was a very quality version of the style that should give Chocolatito problems, he was naturally and actually bigger, and Gonzo still beat him clearly in the same style he always uses.
I agree. Estrada and Cuadras are better than Bobby Chacon, Boza Edwards, Mancini, Bazooka Limon, etc. Estrada is better than Pryor tbh.
Chocolatito's Considerably More FLUID and QUICKER of Hand and Foot than Arguello Ever Was, w/Out Sacrificing Anything in Terms of TECHNIQUE and PRECISION... Put It This Way, Arguello Would've Fared MUCH Worse than Chocolatito Did, Against a Naturally BIGGER, More ATHLETIC Opponent Like Quadras... REED:mj:
Maybe it's not so much being in love with his power then it is showing a lack of patience. Like I said he looked the exact same in his last fight, just going in throwing shots and no longer showing the ring generalship and beautiful techniques and combos like he used to. I'd be very surprised if we ever see that technical version of Choclatito again. This is not to say this other style he now employs isn't effective for him, but it's a lot more crude and basic.
I'm not seeing it. Arroyo and Cuadras were really good boxers with power so Gonzo had to step up the pace but that was always the idea.
In fact that was a very Arguello-esque performance. Arguello's punching technique was near perfect, too, yet several of his fights were close, bruising wars
I'd say the top tier is Ward, Kovalev, Rigondeaux and GGG in whatever order. Gonzalez is in the next tier with 4-8 others.
typical. guy is in a tough fight....because he is facing top comp. and people rate him lower as a result. i thought choco's performance was superb. yeah. he got hit. but he controlled the whole fight and was always landing.
Whoever wins between Kovalev and Ward should be p4p #1. After that it is between Lomachenko, Gonzalez, GGG and Rigondeaux for that third spot.
Try again. From a different forum: Re: Roman Gonzalez moves up to 115 by mikE » Tue Aug 16, 2016 5:21 pm [Zac wrote:118 is pretty solid, actually. He's favored to beat the best fighter there, Inoue @-187.] Inoue is the WBO 115 lb champ. I think Gonzalez is a very good, but overrated fighter. Nonito Jr.
Rigo hasn't really done shit in a while and looks old, GGG doesn't have wins like Estrada and Cuadras. Neither does Kovalev really. Ward is still riding off the Super Six 20 years ago. I agree the winner of Ward-Kovalev should be #1.
Gonzalez has far and away the best resume of any of these guys. some people dont want to give any credibility for small fighters but he has beaten more champions than ward, kovalev and golovkin combined. these are multiple time champions he has beaten, some with several consecutive defenses as well as unified champs
Exactly. Some of them were a little long in the tooth but he's got a p4p resume if you follow the divisions.
THIS... There's No Contest in Terms of Resume and Accomplishments...And Chocolatito has Been Every Bit as Consistently DOMINANT, as the Rest...Also, there's NO Gaping Holes in his Game...If You Want to NITPICK Gonzalez for Getting Touched Up Here and There, it's Due to his AGGRESSION, Similar to GGG... Rigondeaux's More Naturally TALENTED, but he's Toooooooooo STUBBORN For his Own Good, will Never EVER Lead, Which Makes Him HIGH Risk, LOW Reward, Which Keeps Him OUT of the Big Fight Mix to Showcase his Talents...Sooooo, Unless we're Still Counting the Donaire Fight, Rigondeaux's Done NATHAN to Maintain his Lb for Lb Status...Ditto for Ward, but @ Least Ward Has a BIG Fight on the Immediate Horizon... Until Ward-Kovalev, There's Really No Argument AGAINST Chocolatito, for the TOP Spot Lb for Lb...And Even Then, MANNER of Victory Will Determine it for REED... REED:hammert:
Nah, Edgar Sosa and Brian Viloria were PERENNIAL Contenders, in a HEAVIER Division, that Chocolatito Wiped His Ass w/...While Certainly No "Spring Chickens" they were Both Very Much Still VIABLE Opponents @ The Time... REED:hammert:
