the people running UFC are a bunch of smart mofos....an over the hill fighter vs. a street fighting bum...will sell a 800K-1 million easy...
Whoever wins...UFC wins even more....If Chuck win they he gets another fight against a top fighter..and big PPV numbers for the UFC...if Kimbo win they will try to hype him up again as a legit threat and a very improved fighter and put him in w/ a top light heavy or heavyweight....in the process sell a lot of ppv...
there are alot of retards that watch the UFC:: did you see the thread about Kimbo training with American Top Team? Very smart move for him.
If they get one highlight reel KO from Kimbo on a PPV (even against someone in a wheelchair) they'll be able to sell this to UFC fans like lemonade on a hot day.
They can sell the fight right now...UFC doesn't need to risk Kimbo being embarrassed again by some D-C level fighter...they Kimbo vs. Liddell will sell easily....right now...
That's why i brought up the wheelchair reference. Naturally they don't want to take any actual risk, but not all UFC fans are knowledgeable about anything outside what they see on their cards. (this includes the TV series) An impressive KO for Kimbo would really put it over. Dana White should call Frank Warren. I'm sure Frank knows of a good corpse. Maybe he'll even lend one out from his personal grave yard.
That's why Houston Alexander is perfect for Kimbo. He's a 'name' fighter who is smaller than Kimbo and may have even less of a clue about ground fighting than Kimbo. A Kimbo\Alexander fight would probably a standup war, with Kimbo possibly getting the better of it if the fight was at heavyweight. Hell, Kimbo may even be able to sub Alexander the same way he choked out Ray Mercer, and then the UFC would be boasting about how Kimbo is now a 'complete fighter'. I think we'll see Chuck back in the octogon some time next year, so a Kimbo fight only makes sense. I don't think too many people give Liddell a chance against any 205er in the top 10, so the only 'big money' fight for him is Kimbo. The more I think about it, the more I see it happening. Of course, the MMA fans who are UFC haters will have a field day with it, calling it a joke, a freak show, an embarrasment, etc. But then they'll all go watch their Best of Giant Silva in Pride VHS tapes and think it's the greatest thing in the world. Business wise, it makes all the sense in the world. And as far as the fight itself, while neither fighter may be 'legit', it would probably be a hell of a fun fight. TFK
Why would Kimbo have any chance at all against Liddell? I wouldn't be interested and I would suspect it would be a bottom 25% ufc ppv seller. Seth Petrucelli, Roy Nelson....yeah, he'll whip Liddell.
I would put it as a co-mainevent. Just before a championship fight so the card is still a legit ppv. It would be a big seller. You are kidding yourself if you don't think so.
