    From fightnews:

IBF welterweight champion Kermit Cintron announced today his desire to avenge his only professional loss by calling out Antonio Margarito. Cintron, who lost to Margarito in April of 2005, is ready to fight Margarito now! "Right now, I'm a world champion and he's not. If he thinks he's the best, come and get my belt. I have it and he's saying he wants it so let's get it on....I was coming off a 9 month layoff, hand surgery, and had only 4 weeks to prepare. I'm not going to make any more excuses, but I know that fight was a fluke. When I fight Margarito again, the fight will once again end in a knockout. Only this time, it will be Margarito lying on the canvas." Kermit's manager Emanuel Steward told Fightnews that "The Margarito fight is something that Kermit wants to avenge very badly. He wants to get it out of the way as soon as possible. He wants to prove he's better than Margarito and that the first fight was lost for reasons that aren't apparent today. We're willing to give Margarito a shot the title just to clear things up once and for all."
<HR width="50%">Cintron also said he plans to unify the welterweight division, starting with WBA champion Miguel Cotto. "He's another champion from Puerto Rico," said Cintron, "but I know that I'm the top Puerto Rican fighter. While I respect him as a champion, I know what the result will be. Like the others, he'll be wondering what hit him."

Opinions on his chances in a Marga rematch and against Cotto? And its now apparent that Kerm seems to want no parts of The Punisher.

the punisher needs to keep winning until he can land a big fight. he brings very little to the table for any of the players at welter.

maybe mosley will end up being the one to give him a chance like he did for forrest and wright.

He would lose to all of them anyway. He would never make it to Williams.

So I guess the 'high risk low reward' rule when it comes to Wlliams, only applies to Floyd.

You are right. He should be banging on Judah's door as well. Its a high profile name and decent for his resume. A fight in the garden against Zab would be a decent fight for Paul to make. Lots of exposure.

Margarito should be the one fight Cintron should look for. He was the one that kicked the shit out of him and made him cry.

It's nice if Cintron can beat any of the other big names. But the Margarito rematch will always come up until he fights him.

Out of pride it's the one fight he should try to land. Especially since he won't credit Margarito for the win and wants to hang on the excuses that he had alot of shit going on at the time and it's a completely different fighter now.

Zactly. The only name that should coming out of his mouth is Margarito. Until he avenges that horrific beat down he can not call himself a champion. That dark cloud called Margarito will continue to follow him around. I'll Holla 5000

Cintron's got a pretty big mouth for someone who Margarito made bawl prefusively and quit in the ring, if I were Margarito I'd target Cotto or a Williams rematch instead, this insignificant trash is just like exhuming an old grave that Margarito has already pissed on extensively. There are better fights out there for Toney if he can get them, if not, then yeah, take the candy from the screaming baby I suppose, just piss any propositions from Arum to fight "the amazing Zab Judah" the FUCK off..:flip:

Margarito has the right to review offers from other promoters, it's pretty dumb and hypocritical to claim otherwise my dear chupacabra. Besides I recall a certain panicking Spaniard frantically skipping from thread to thread like an antelope, propergating with ear peircing frequency, that Margarito, was indeed ducking Paul Williams, when he was thought to be set to face your god. :dunno:

I could see Cintron beating Margarito in a rematch. Sure Kermit lost the first one, but it wasn't as bad as many make it out to be. Kermit wasn't dominated as bad as people on here would like to believe. They should make this fight happen.

Cintron vs Cotto would be fun while it lasts. Somebody gets knocked out for sure. I don't think Cotto can take a flush bomb from Cintron, and obviously Cotto pretty much has every other advantage. Fun fight though.

I can't really see how Cintron wasn't "dominated as bad as people on here would like to believe".

I would like to see the fight again, primarily because I think as a title holder, Cintron's a pretty weak link in a division as good as welterweight is.

cintron is what he is. a talented guy w/ a questionable chin and stamina. if margarito survives some early scare, then the fight is over. judging from the feliciano fight, i think margarito makes him cry again.

    Why no Williams?

Isn't calling out Margarito (the man who KHTFO) and Cotto, the clear 2nd best in the division, good enough?

How can there be a "clear 2nd best" in a division when there's no clear #1 or #3?? :dunno: :nono:

Having said that, Cintron is calling out a guy who whupped his ass once, so if he's really earnest, you can't fault him too much for that.

But Williams is becoming one of the most avoided/ignored fighters in boxing right now, regardless.

Paul Williams is high risk low reward....but he's still young, all he has to do is keep winning and he'll get his chance eventually.........:dunno:
