Saw this for the first time last night. Horrible experience. Why do people like these types of films? Violence, violence and more violence. Scum of the earth killing each other, kids with gun and shit. It's awful that people are so desensitized these days that they are not appauled or disturbed by these films. Is this how far society as regressed?
You PUSSY!!!! City Of God is one of the greatest movie ever.... That is what life is in many places in this great society of ours....
You're supposed to be appalled by movies like this. I applaud movies that don't romanticize or glorify violence for the purposes of an action movie theme. It showed violence as being gritty, dirty and ugly. You're supposed to be sympathetic and disturbed by the situation because many people in the world live in situations close to that being portrayed. I'd rather see 100 "City Of Gods"...........then one more shitty Vin Diesel or Michael Bay movie.
Call me what you want. Movie was disgusting and uncalled for. I can't believe that people enjoy that type of shit. Sadistic. Disturbing.
It's showing you how life is on those streets. You are not suppose to feel happy about. It should concern you because that is the shit actually going on.
Great film based on real life events. The acting was very good when you take into account that most of the "actors" were really common people who lived in the favelas with no acting background. The characters are very memorable and engaging. Definitely re-watch material.
I think you missed the point of the movie. It's an accurate portrayal of that corner of society. I thought the movie was well acted, written and produced. The level of violence is certainly astonishing.
Ahhh, yes, 'Cidade de Deus'. Sly, I can understand how you may not like this movie, but it's nothing to do with 'society-regression' at all. A lot of people watch this movie and go. "Oh wow, life in Rio de Janeiro must be cheap" Sure, life is tough in the cities of Brasil and to a larger extent, life in the favelas is terrible - but this movie is not that realistic. It'ss a highly stylized, grossly over the top and very romanticized movie. Oh yeah, I have to add - I've spent plenty of time in Rio de Janeiro...
