The round of 16 happened this past saturday, and the 8 big boys have advanced to the next round. The survivors who will be pitted against eachother(brackets unreleased as yet) are:

    Emelianenko Fedor(Pride Champion)
    Josh Barnett
    Mirko CroCop
    Fabricio Werdum
    Mark Hunt
    Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira
    Kazuyki Fujita
    Hidehiko Yoshida

I think that's a pretty f*cking good line up, except maybe Fujita. Anybody down with the round of 8 coming up July 2nd?
    How about a Fedor/Barnett, CroCop/Yoshida, Nog/Werdum, Fujita/Hunt lineup?

No denying that. I just wonder if he really belongs in there at this stage of the game. But I'll keep an open mind about it. He does have the KO power. I'd like a Hunt/Fujita battle of fisticuffs.:2:

fuck, i havent seen the first round yet.....thats what i figured.....I have it downloading right now, so I'll watch tonight

CroCop is on of my faves....That dude hasnt been in a boring fight in his life, and is constantly improving....He is one of the hardest training guys in the sport.....To avoid being submitted or GNP'd by Fedor was an accomplishment in itself

CroCop is the truth. Who do you think they'll pit him against in the 2nd round? He's got alot of good opponents in the line up. CroCop/Hunt again? CroCop/Nog 2? CroCop/Fedor 2? CroCop/Werdum?

Fedor seemed hopeless in Cro's guard the first time.

I have a hunch cro will beat Fedor if they fight again.

I don't care how hard Cro Cop trains his stamina isn't that good. He is tiring out much to early. I would pick Fedor with confidence in a rematch.:nono:

I love all these guys. The 2nd round is gonna be DA BOMB!!!:2: :2:
    They could make any matchups, I'm looking foward to all of em. Barnett/Fedor, Barnett/Hunt, Fedor/Hunt, Cro/Nog 2, Fedor/Cro 2, Nog/Hunt, Fujita/Hunt, Nog/Werdum, Yoshida/Werdum, Fedor/Yoshida, etc. It's all good.

alright hanzy, here are the fights i'd like to see......

    Fedor -vs- Yoshida

    Barnett -vs- Fujuta

    Cro Cop -vs- Werdum

    Nog -vs- Hunt

From there i'd like to see it go

Fedor -vs- Barnett or Fujita (some intrigue to either match, so it doesnt matter)

    Cro Cop -vs- Nog

    Then

Cro Cop -vs- Fedor, with Cro Cop pulling the upset

BTW, what happened to OPEN WEIGHT??? This is nothing more than a heavyweight tourney

Overheem, Yoshida, Minowa and one other guy who i cant recall the name of were the only non super heavy's in the tourney

Instead of guys like Minowa, Josh Thompson, Zulu, there should have been the likes of Silva, Gomi, Hendo......why didnt Coleman get invited? I thought thats why he fought Shogun???

he should worry about getting knocked out though, that and ending up in a bad position on the ground....to say dont worry and Fedor in the same sentence is a little overboard

Fedor has much faster hands and overall superior punching skills than CroCop, not to mention better conditioning. He can KO Cro or submit him in a variety of different ways. Don't let the first fight fool you into thinking Cro can be comfortable on the ground. If he does fight Fedor again, he has to keep it standing and look for the KO.

Fedor clearly is the better puncher but its not like crocop has a choice if he wants to win. Cro's only hope is to KO or pressure Fedor standing and that means fighting less cautious.

True, but there's a major problem with CroCop's stamina. He fired his conditioning coach after the Fedor fight last year if I remember correctly. Notice how much power he lost in his kick in the 3rd round of the Fedor fight? He couldn't even KO a mouse with those. He has to look for the KO either through punches or the left high kick and he needs to do it before major fatigue sets in.

Hunt isn't knockout proof, he has been hurt and alot of the time he's been hurt is also due to being very tired. If somebody opens up on him while he's badly sucking gas, he's ripe for being KO'd. Maybe Fedor will be the man to do it?:nixweiss:
