http://www.mmamania.com/2016/4/19/11462044/conor-mcgregor-retires-from-ufc-on-twitter-mma Well, that's according to his most recent tweet: Short and to the point. I guess UFC President Dana White will have to find a new main event for the upcoming UFC 200 pay-per-view (PPV) fight card, which takes place on Sat., July 9, 2016 inside T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Unless, of course, this is just another "Notorious" troll job and the Irishman is just looking for attention. I'd say he's got it, based on the number of retweets. UFC has yet to make any sort of comment regarding this recent bombshell, but rest assured we're just getting started. TFK
I think this is real....could be because of the death of João Carvalho last week? McGregor is friends with Charlie Ward...
No Chance of This Being Real... REED Thinks Conor's Angling for a BIGGER Slice of the Pie Here, or Simply "Trolling", per the Write-Up....Whether he GETS it or Not, Remains to Be Seen... STRANGE Behavior Though, from a Guy that Made a STRANGE Decision in Taking an Immediate RE vs. an Out of Shape TOKER that Tapped Him in 2... REED:wtf1:
No chance? Ariel Helwani is re-tweeting and he doesn't usually joke. Sounds either one elaborate hoax that everyone's in on or he's messed up his PED cycle, so in case he's tested and fails, he don't give a fuck. Can't see him quitting on US$10 mill.....
This would suck for Nate if it's true. Nate would be set for life after this fight, if it still happens.
No fight out there will give him a multimillion dollar payday like a rematch with McGregor. He has the right style to win that fight. Nate is one of my favorite fighters, but he'd be a big underdog in a fight with Khabib or a rematch with RDA. He has a weakness when it comes to strong wrestlers.
Maybe, but he has bigger options like Robbie Lawler or Anderson Silva. Or a rematch with Nick. Nate is a natural lightweight anyway. He'd get thrown around and dominated by the top wrestlers at welterweight.
gsp vs nate is a mismatch. assuming jones gets by osp unscathed, the cormier rematch would be a good headliner for ufc 200.
Conor is such a bitch. Diaz is totally in his head - he knew that UFC wouldn't accept not promoting the fight. Fear.
Way too soon, even if jones wins in 30 seconds, don't you think? I know Cerrone did it, but that's not a top attraction like Jones. Plus, Jones surely cuts weight, probably cheats and does cycles, and coming back that soon just seems unlikely. Would love to be wrong, though, because I agree it's a great matchup for 200.
Is Cormier ready for the rematch yet? His knee injury must have been bad for him to pull out of the fight.
McGregor's, either having second thoughts about his decision to take on Nate Diaz so soon after losing to him given the recent death of fighter Joao Carvalho or simply angling for a bigger pay day - he has made his power play: White has called his bluff. Now it's a case of who blinks first.
Such a prima donna. Peddling excuses for getting his ass beat now. Hopefully he get his own way, fights at 200 and gets embarrassed again.
Nobody cares about these media events. A fighter's job is to show up for the actual event and fight. That's what the fans care about. They cancelled the first Nick Diaz / GSP fight when Nick didn't show up for a press conference. Stupid. If a fighter wants to focus on training and avoid the media, just let them do it. Especially when they're one of the best in the world.
w/All the TECHNOLOGY in the World, You'd Think They'd Simply Face Time McGregor or Something...Seems Like a Happy Medium Between Wanting him to Honor Certain Promotional Commitments and Allowing Conor to "Get Away" for Training... REED:hammert:
Even then, if he wants some time to train in private he should get it. He'll need all the training he can get. They're past the point of having to sell this with promos and media events. Everyone just wants to see the fight. I don't think Conor should get special treatment. They should have that policy with all fighters. Maybe offer them a little extra money for showing up for media events. If they'd rather focus on training and keep to themselves, who cares. All they have to do is show up for the event and fight. Win or lose. Smart up and coming fighters will do all the promotional events they can to get their names out there. Conor is already a star with a worldwide fan base. He doesn't need this shit at this point when he's facing the biggest challenge of his career.
If anybody knows the value of promotion, it's Conor. The reason he's getting $10+ Million per fight has more to do with what he does outside of the cage than inside of it. There's more to this than meets the eye. TFK
