    BIG FIGHT FALL

So how are talks moving along for Miguel Cotto-Shane Mosley?

"Everything is progressing nicely," said Bob Arum to Maxboxing on Tuesday afternoon. The date being thrown around is November 10th, quite possibly at Madison Square Garden in the Big Apple. "That's a very good possibility," confirmed Arum.

Also being strongly discussed is a bout between Floyd Mayweather and Ricky Hatton for December 1st. So why would Hatton take Mayweather when a De La Hoya fight could be in the offing? From what I'm told, waiting for De La Hoya means waiting till next spring, something that the Mancunian isn't willing to do.

Also, since there's no more money left in the 2007 HBO budget, his next bout would have to be a pay-per-view outing, which the Mayweather bout would be.

Cotto vs Mosley is a real fight and one I would love to see. I think it's possibly the best match up that can be made at 147.

    I agree, I think it's the most entertaining possible match-up at 147.

Add in the Puerto Rican crowd at MSG and it should be a great event.

And coming the week after Calzaghe-Kessler.

November could be a great month for boxing.

The talk all along was that PBF-Hatton was for Nov. 10 and HBO had a November date on PPV for Floyd. :dunno:

Anyone know which network is getting Kessler-Calzaghe?

It looks like he isn't getting Floyd first, unless you are saying he isn't willing to take the Cotto fight first.

I think Mosley hands Cotto his first loss, and probably by KO.

I lean toward Mosley in a Cotto fight, as I still think Cotto is pretty vulnerable.

    "However"

Shane doesn't like body punches (as is the case with most body punchers..ask Castillo) and I could see Cotto folding him in half with body shots and simply outworking him on the inside and stopping him late.

There are so many possible scenarios in this fight but one thing is certain...

it'll be ONE HELL of a fight!! :bears:

The availability of MSG may play a part in some of this.

They are going to beat the shit out of each other, this is another step up for Cotto.

That will be a great fight if it happens but Mosley's fans will be disappointed. As fast as he is, Mosley punches wide and moves straight back, two things you shouldn't do against a compact puncher like Cotto who happens to have a pretty good straight right too. I know Cotto has his vulnerabilities too but the fact that he's younger and fresher make me lean towards him, and I'll root for him of course (Even though I like Shane a lot too)... I can't wait!:bears: Who said boxing was dying?

Great matchup, hope it comes off.

Who do you think will be considered the favorite in Vegas? Maybe Cotto because he's younger and undefeated?

I wouldn't be surprised if Mosley was the favourite, his destruction of Vargas left a big impression despite Vargas "shotness".

Possibly. I doubt it's more than 2-1 either way.

he wants to fight Wright, he gets a fight with Forrest. seems like Mosley never gets what he wants. he wants a third match-up with ODH, he gets a shot at Wright. he wants to fight PBF. he gets a fight with Cotto.

he should just be happy he doesn't have to fight Williams.

He could have had a third fight with Oscar but opted for the Wright matchup, not the other way around.

I don't see it - MSG seems to be dealing exclusively w/ King, who has no paper on either Kessler or Calzaghe, and therefore no vested interest.

BTW... my man Hype is reporting that Cotto-Shane is a done deal.

    http://www.fighthype.com/pages/content422.html
It's official. Sources close to the situation have just informed FightHype.com that three-time world champion Shane Mosley will be facing WBA welterweight champion Miguel Cotto on November 10th at Madison Square Garden. (2:45PM ET)

Great fight. I think Mosley will show his age, they'll both beat each other up in the 1st half of the fight but Cotto will finish stronger.

That's a good possibility. I'm interested in seeing how Cotto deals with Shanes combination of hand speed and toughness.

Mosley looked good against Vargas. He still has good power and fast hands. Cotto's youth may prevail but who knows. dangerous fight for either of them.:bears:

I agree, this is a must watch fight. Mosley has good body punches of his own. It's great to watch fighters risk it all in mega fights, unlike some Fraud I know!

    Jake,

I was talking about the MSG arena...and why Cotto-Mosley might be moved up to November 10th when Mayweather-Hatton had been rumored for the date.

LOL. Floyd's last fight and the potential Hatton fight are bigger than this fight.

I think Mosley will stop Cotto. I could see Mosley TKO11 Cotto.
