I don't expect 'crap' fighters to amount to anything.

I'm not sure if I would exactly call these guys "crap", but they were definitely exposed. I once thought that David Tua would rule the heavyweight division for years, obviously never came to pass.

Like-wise, watching Lacy destroy Robin Reid a few years back, I swore he would rule 168.... guess not.

But perhaps the best example.... muthafuckin Bojado! Watching this kid's first 7-8 fights I(and I wasnt alone) swore that he was headed towards greatness! But that lazy fuck never amounted to SHIT!

I had forgotten about Ricardo Williams. I never thought he was ever destined for greatness or anything, but I thought he'd at least one day pick up a belt at 140, and be a top 5 fighter at that weight. Sorta like another Sharmba Mitchell. But he pissed all his talent away!

BTW- I remember Max Kellerman once calling Williams "Meldrick Taylor with a better defense.":laughing::laughing:

    Juan Manuel Marquez.

He's a good fighter no doubt, but I think in terms of his overall career, his earnings, and his wasted potential, he ended up kind of crap. I remember when I first saw him fight, it was against Enrique Jupiter. The way he counter punched Jupiter and eventually forced a stoppage was pretty impressive. Then his fight against Norwood, he completely choked. That's the story of Marquez's career, he chokes in his biggest fights.

Marquez is the lowest earning fighter in the Ring Top 10 P4P. LOWEST. His career earnings pale against the other fighters on that list. Why do you think that is? Wasted potential. Marquez only became fan friendly watchable about 3 years ago when he was 32.

this is a thread about fighters who had some potential but never reached the championship status. JMM does not fit into that gorup, at all.

I only saw a couple of Joel Julio fights. I thought he had a lot of potential to do good things.

    He fizzled out big time.

Yeah, same here. I saw a few of his early fights and he reminded me a young Tito. Then he ran into Quintana, the rest is history. Still Julio is very young, and has the potential to one day win a belt, but I think its clear that he'll never be elite.

Marquez was never "the champ" he was always a belt holder. Pacquiao was the champ at 126 and Marquez sat down 3 times when he tried step up. At 130, there was no champ, it was a vacant spot (ring mag had the spot vacant for over a year). Marquez vs Pacquiao II was supposed to determine the champ at 130 and Pacquiao took it. Marquez always comes up just short in his biggest fights.

Trying to suck your dick? I'm not Jenny your racist whore. The title of this thread is a simple question and like always you gave an idiotic response. What does Marquez and how much money he's made have anything to do with what fighters you thought would become champs/contenders that failed to do so? answer that

Marquez won a belt asshole. That makes him a champion. He's irrelevant in this topic.
